2004 Puddle Stompin Build

Little delay on the axle.  Finally picking it up for the shop.  Took longer than i expected to get the gears and diff swapped in.  Buddy who i had installed it said the Diff cover is warped so i have to get it machined flat.

Didnt help much i have been out with strep throat for the past 4 days in bed.  Hopefully i can get this tackled before the month is over.

Wish i had the axle already under it.  Killing me that i have it still sitting in the garage.  Orchard and wedding planning have taken presidence over everything else for the passed month.  Hopefully it will go under the truck soon.

New CV's, shocks, an alignment and front tires going on this week.

Having a different set of side steps built this week.  Should be on by next week.  Ill update with pictures when they are bent and in place.

Awesome!! Just curious point of puting new CV's if your going todo a solid axle swap? I'll be curious to see your steps im thinking about making some for mine this summer.

With his orchard he probably needs the 4x4 now and will continue to use it. The SAS would just be a step to better strengthen the 4x4 system later on

Just time and money.  Got a whole list of parts spec'd for the SAS.  Several different companies out there that have kits and I want to make sure i buy the right stuff the first time. Got to keep the truck in an operational form before i go over kill.... that's why i'm putting in new CV's upfront.

I like the idea of a solid axle.  Look at the Fords and Dodges( 3/4 and 1 ton) all solid axles. I know there are pros and cons to both IFS and Solids but I will have a solid axle under this truck.  I was on ORD's website and will probably be using them for a lot of the stuff for the front SAS.

This is my daily driver so i have been in a tight spot to get this thing worked on (rear axle swap) because i can't be without a vehicle.

Definitely use the 4x4 out here.  Will be nice with the added strength and gears once the 14BSF is under the truck.

Ahh gotcha I just didn't know if your other ones wore out or if you were just randomly decided to upgrade

Ill have the shop save them for me.  The Duralast have a limetime warranty... so i can beat the Sh!t out of them till the dana 60 for the front is under the truck.  :drive:

Wish i had time and space right now.  Day job in the toy biz, started a new fencing business and have daily stuff with the orchard.

Scrapped the other rock sliders as they were a little over kill.  My buddy who is doing my welding just had emergency surgery so they are sitting on the ground in the shop.... another project just waiting to be put on the truck.

Really debating going out and buying  Hobart AirForce 700i 230V Inverter-Based Plasma Cutter and Hobart IronMan 230 Flux Cored/MIG 230V Welder just so i can get the axle and steps done.  Hard to chop up (axle swap) the daily driver without a backup truck/car in place.

On a totally different note, if my new fencing business keeps up at the pace I am going out i could be looking at a totally different direction for the truck.  I know of the few on here that have swapped a Duramax into their trucks.  With my "move" to a non-smog county here in CA i can literately tackle the 3 motor swaps i have been wanting to do in my other project cars and the Avalanche.  Like i said if everything goes right in the next 2 months ill take over the warehouse the family business is in right now and will have the space and time to do these.

1. 5.3 and built 4l60E from avalanche will go into the 82 Grandprix Brougham
2. 460BBF/PowerStroke Junkyard Turbo backed with a T56 6 Speed into my 89 Foxbody  - Trying to find an older F350 from a junkyard to grab the front dana 60 and motor out.
3. 6.6L Duramax w/6speed Allison into the Avalanche with the 14SF out back and Dana 60 up Front. - Ive read about the Duraburb and the several swaps.  Might need to utilize a 2500 frame but i like the idea of the 1500 being lighter... :drive: :drive: :drive: :drive:

And this is going on the mod list as well.  Anyone running a cubby cam??

That's cool, but seems really over priced to me.

Its been a while but finally got my hands on this.  Wedding has taken presidence over modding so hopefully after october i can do both the 14BSF and the Dana 60.  This is a 95 Dodge CAD dana 60.

I will be fabbing a custom hanger bracket in the front as the frame rails sit right around 43".  The spring perches and control arm brackets are off most of the way.  Ried C's and Knuckles will be going in along with chromoly 35 splines.  52" springs out of a 73-87 1/2 ton GM truck/suburban will come from the wrecking yard.  Ill do my best to make a complete list of parts and cost for everyone on this.

Currently i am $500 into the housing.  Trying to recoup some money with all the parts that came off of it that i am not using.  More to come.
