Thats what I was planning, its an additional $75, but I keep my original. PLus Nelson will re-tune for free for even Cam changes under 220 and non-charged modifications.

Im thinking more and more Nelson. If I cant upload current tune to Diablo, then I think I will skip that route.

Thanks for all the input guys. And hopefully this thread will help others out as well...the info out there is kind of vague sometimes.

If you're gonna go with Nelson, I'd recommend buying a new ECU. That way, you'll have the one set to stock, and the one with the Nelson tune in it.

Which is what I did. Carry the stock ecm/tcm in the truck in case it needs to go on the hook while still under powertrain warranty...especially with TM removed. Five minutes to get back to stock.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure black bear just came out with a hand held tune called "auto-cal" it'll run you about 500 for it and I believe you can tune multiple vehicles, and turn back to stock if desired.

I'm running super chips flashpaq and it's ok.. I'm about to put a cam in so I'll have to go custom

Since I have D.O.D (displacement on demand) I will have to do a custom grind cam
here is the specs
a 224/230 581 592 -110, dual springs, 7.4 push rods. along with the DOD delete kit.
it should have a nice choppy idle but nothing too extreme. Its still going to be my daily driver.

Then ill probably do a trail blazer stall, shift kit, black bear tune and some other small things here and there.

Ive been looking at 2 Cams, and also talking to Nelson about a custom grind.

The first Cam Ive looked at requires no re-tuning, as the ECU will learn it. Its the GM Performance p/n 12561721, and its the cam that is used in the Escalades and HO 5.7 and 6.0L engines.

The Second Cam ive been looking at is the XFI Xtreme Truck Cam, but it requires new valve springs and rockers, and requires a special Tune. p/n 54-450-11

Im leaning towards the GM one not because it doesnt require new springs/rockers, but because Im not looking to race my truck, just give it some more towing power.

:D Since im the OP, and I was going to start a thread concerning Cam upgrades might as well post a link here since we are on-topic of Cams: Its a different forum, but has most of the info on good Cam choices for our trucks, with part numbers, etc:

And while were at it, this link is kick-a$$  >:D
