Hey everyone, I got my hood and bumper painted for my 2008 Avalanche. I fell for the Facebook trap again and got another av for $2600. This avalanche is rust free but has front end damage and also an exceedingly rare 6.0 . I’m wondering if swapping an LTZ body onto my trucks chassis would be difficult trying to get the computers to communicate? Has anyone done this? It’s no big deal if they don’t work, I will just fix them both up and have two LOL

If they are the same body styles I don't think you should have any problems, you may want to swap out the computers so everything works right with the 6.0. Good Luck 👍

Sadly, I will be putting the 6.0s body on my 5.3 frame
What years are the trucks? If they are the same years the ECM should be in the engine compartment by the radiator on the driver side. It should work with your 5.3 and everything should plug in just fine.

They are both 2008s, I think everything should work fine, I’m just worried about the LTZ stuff being swapped into an LS model truck. I’ve also heard about ECM’s locking? Is that something I have to worry about?

As long as everything is working properly and you disconnect the battery before you get into taking it apart you shouldn't have any problems when you get it back together, the only difference is the LTZ has a lot of different luxuries than the LS, so unless the plugs aren't present you might have to swap the entire wiring harness to get everything installed and working properly.

Gotcha. I’ll give it a try then and we will see how this goes lol. I think finding this rust free 6.0 is cheaper than fixing the rust on my rig. Not to mention it’s a freakin 6.0

Wish I could find a 6.0 around here in Ohio, but they're gone before I can get my hands on one, lol
