no problem...i just finally did this mod...had to after all the offroading i broke the original mount nearly completely off...it's much better now...i'll have to take a pic and post it in the morning

I am all over this.. bent the crap out of mine last weekend.. nearly tore the bumber off too.. Good thing that plastic is flexible.. I wish I would have taken a picture.. All that is left now are some nice deep scratches on the underside of my rear cladding..

I just saw this and I will have to do this one for sure. The reson being is that I have a locking pin for my trailer reciver and it is real hard to get the key into the lock because the trailer plug is in the way. Thanks for the pictures and info.

First off...This is a great mod...i just finished mine a couple of hours ago. I made one adjustment to the instructions that people might be interested in...on the part about the template. Instead of making a cardboard template...the first thing I did was to cut the old bracket off with a sawzall...only a inch long weld on each side off bracket with enough room to get a sawzall blade in behind it and cut it off flush to the hitch frame...put the old brakcet in a vise and with the sawzall cut the raised/angled portion of the bracket and what you are left with is a flat metal template. Remove the license plate and use a large c-clamp to hold the makeshift template in place on the bumper and this will allow you to use the utility knife without slipping outside of the lines so to speak. Once again, what a great mod...greatly improves the looks of that area and adds some much need extra protection.

I also got out he tools and moved the plug tonight. Your right this is a great mod. It is going to make removing the locking pin so easy. And putting in the wireing plug I will be able to see without nealing on the ground. Which gets farther away the older I get. Thanks for the step by step and photos. Dwayne

Have to bring this thread back to life... I have a chrome bumper (WBH) can I do this mod?

I wouldn't do it.  Your chrome will eventually start peeling off.

Sweet! And here I was thinking about installing my 6-pin on the opposite side of the reciever. Guess I need to go back and see if I have enough room to get them side by side. With my luck, I'd rip off both of them in one shot.

I finally, after over 2-1/2 years, bent my trailer plug.? Didn't take much...pavement ended and dropped about 6-8".? I bounced enough to just catch it.

Bent it back so don't have to move it up quite yet though? :D

You got lucky, when I bent mine back it popped off in my hands :(  Oh well, that a good excuse for a mod :D

then I definitely won't push my luck and try to get it back to completely vertical.? I'm seeing how long I can go without washing or modding the AV these days ? :needhug:
