Zane here I’m rebuilding the interior wiring of a 04 Chevy 1500 4wd that had a fire from faulty air compressor so really need help with getting pin out diagrams for fuse boxes much appreciated for all help so far
I'm sure you've completed this task and I've come here to learn too, this is for anyone reading this, since I'm an electrician, electrical car fires are usually caused by not having fuses or improper fuse sizes to protect the wires that cause fires. Never replace a fuse with higher numbered size fuse in a vehicle or boats. This is where I see more boat fires, no fuses used.

My 2002 finally died on me after 6 great years. She's at 317k miles and just lost a few gears in the transmission. I've put about 4k in her the past year alone. Just got to the point it didn't make sense to continue anymore.

I was lucky enough to be able to get myself into a clean '05 Z71 with a crate motor and rebuilt transmission. All the rust and bodywork has been taken care of. First week I did have to replace the hydraulic brake booster. Now I'm looking at some front end work and shocks all around. She's a beaut and I'm hoping to spend the next decade or so treating her right.

P.S. I am looking for shock suggestions so be on the lookout for that post if you have any advice.

Thanks for having me! Avy life!

Welcome BowtieLife
Had to do a lot of front end work too, DIY in my driveway.
For shocks I went with Rancho5000. Easy and cheap. Nice ride.
Bilsteins seem most popular by members here. Search some threads about it.
Looks like a sweet ride, from the profile pic. Good luck

Thanks for the add! Just purchased a 03 1500 4x4 with 132k miles. It’s my first Avalanche and my first Chevy period. I’ve always had cars. Mainly Honda or Acura. I still have my Acura as commute to work but have been eyeing an avalanche for awhile so found this one for a good price. First thing I need to do is swap out this stock stereo with something with Bluetooth.
I bought a cool Bluetooth transmitter in Amazon that works awesomely!

Great catch w/ the engine & tranny! Hope the rest works out just as well.

Good afternoon! It's a pleasure to meet all of you! Came across this website when I was looking up information about the Chevrolet Avalanche~ Fun to see there being such a following for this truck! It's been on my list of "dream vehicles" to own someday, and I'm likely to buy one in the next year or two. Wanted to learn as much as I can so as to make an educated purchase. I know the trucks are getting up there in both mileage and age, so the market for them is flopping here and there. Thank you for accepting me into the group, and I look forward to learning what I can from all of you!

Hello, I've bought a 2002 Avalanche last week. It's the small 5.3L Engine and a Z71 Option. I'm living in Germany, please excuse my not so perfect English.
It's my first Chevy and my first truck in general. It's replace a 2006 Volvo XC90 4.4 V8 SUV in my car collection.
The Chevy has about 260.000 mls on his odometer and comes from the netherlands 2 year's before.
In general, the truck is technicaly in good condition, Engine and Powertrain working well, only the Check Engine lamp is lights from time to time.
I've read the codes and get "missfire" as faulty code. Maybe some old Spark Plugs?

The one german pre owner has used the truck only 15 months.
Unfortunately I doesn't get any information about the last service works.
I want to do the important things now: Oil and filter changing, spark plugs, any Air Filters, gearbox oil changing, all 4 O2 Sensors new
Also the A/C dont work, I still ordered parts and want to get the A/C work. The summer is coming now...🥵
Additionaly, the truck is equiped with a LPG Fuel System. This system don't work and I want to bring it to a specialist, after I've done the general maintenance work.

But optical, you see the high mileage 😩
And the worst: during his time in the netherlands, they have removed the midgate and close it with an big wooden panel. It comes from the netherlands laws, there it's not alowed to get it open for commercial use🤦‍♂️

For germany, I need to install the midgate back immediately. If I can't open it, the passenger room is bigger than the storage = I need to pay the higher car tax for a car . If I can open it, I can argue with a big storage department and hopefully get the lower truck taxes.

Welcome to the forum. I bought my 02 with 216k 5 years ago with the same issue. Front end was wasted. I did all that and tires, coil packs, plugs, wires, pcv, air filter, oil change, filter etc... truck has been solid and I believe you'll find your truck is solid as well.
For the midgate, I'd look into salvage yards or possibly if someone on here is selling their truck as parts. Locally here in the US I've seen plenty of avalanches in the salvage yards.
Good luck with your search and all the best with the AV!

Thanks, I'm looking forward to get happy with the truck. The engine is good, absolutely dry and no oil/water leakage. I've never see a dry engine in such a old/highmile car from European production😱😅
Also the drive train, springs, jumpers, joint belts and brake's are very good. I think the Netherlands owner has done a very good maintenance to the truck. Only the last German owner do nothing, only ride the truck the last 15 months.

The problem is, actually is not one avalanche available on a german junkyard 😩

There are 2 or 3 in the Netherlands, but this is above 800km from my home. And the Netherlands both don't have the midgate, changed like my one.
And get one from US? I think the shipment, customs and so on will be to expensive 😔
I've ordered the maintenance stuff from rock auto. Shipment and customs is more than ⅓ of the total payment

It's possible that the shipping from here to there would make the midgate too costly however it is possible you may be able to construct or fabricate something which would work.
I recall someone making a plywood piece for the midgate but am not sure where in the forum it is. You may be able to copy the measurements and modify it to fit your needs.
As we own older vehicles it is up to us to figure out methods which will enhance the longevity of the vehicle by thinking out of the box.
It took my two plus years to figure out how to make my dash skin be removable and secure while looking factory. Kick some ideas around in your head for a while and something will sprout

Hello, I am Lamar984. I am also a newbie to the site. I have only been on a couple of days but have found a ton of helpful info already. I recently purchased a 2011 Avalanche LTZ. I have always wanted one of these trucks and I am glad I was finally able to acquire one. It only has 105,642 miles on it, so it should have plenty life left from what I can tell on this site. Thanks for allowing me to join the site and I look forward to talking with you guys and learning from you.
