1. Now that you cut the midgate... does it rattle when you drive thru rough terrain/bumps or when the bass kicks?

No rattles at all.? Just as solid as ever.

2. I have seen yours and another members same setup and I see the your cutout of the holes is excellent, however when I see the midgate complete with carpet, it seems that the circumference is kind of wavy... is this due to the carpet? how can that be rectified? or is it just the picture because I have noticed both of the setups the same way.

The hole is very round.? I have never don anything like this before and did not pull the carpet hard enough to keep it good and round.? It looks worse in the pics than it is.? A little more work at stretching the carpet will correct this.
thanks for your output viper.

Great lookin setup. What was the total cost for the project? Is a one-off custom from subthump or a product they normaly sell. I couldn't find the box listed in thier online catalog.

Sorry for the late update but here is the cost.

Sub box $200
Subs on sale $100 (buy one get one free)
Amp $150 clearance

I noticed that it was not on the websight any more and sent them a e-mail.  They said that they will offer it again a little later in the year.  Send them a e-mail to find out more.

hey do you have any dimensions of the box?? also, how did you attach the box to the midgate?

The enclosure is atache with bolts that go through the midgate and into the emclosure.  You must take the midgate apart to do this.

I actually emailed them about this last night. Steve told me they produce these on a seasonal basis and would be offering them again soon.

Steve, did they give you any idea on a timeline?  I finally think I am ready to get one of the boxes, went on the website, noticed they only offered the downfire boxes, and was pretty upset!  I know they were having shipping issues on the full replacement midgates, but hadnt heard anything about the do it yourself ones...

Yeah, Chris, he mentioned they had issues shipping the old boxes, but the new ones they are (or will be) producing will be easy to ship. I'm interested in when they'll be making these again as well, he didn't say when it would be. Another email may be in order..

not enough posts yet to pm, there was some trouble with spammers, so there is a unknown minimum threshold you have to cross
where are you located?

i think it is like 7,482 :p

Does anyone know about this year's box style? In the Pictures they show two different box's that have a different appearence in the bed. One of them looks more shallow, which might not gife enough space for hard hitting bass but is better for me in contrast to the room in the bed it takes? Jus thought that I'd ask.

bbrennan - If you wouldn't mind posting pics of yours when you get it. That is if I can wait that long till I order mine!

I got it in the mail today.
The quality of the box is great, and it is shaped different than the ones I have seen in the past. I will get a few pictures as soon as I find the camera.
The install instructions are very detailed also.

Please post pics as soon as you can! I am on the fence between the subthump and a used Jl Midgate. The used JL is the older version, the w3v2.

I already have great kicker subs and did not want to spend the extra grand....

I just finished installing the box and speakers, minus the front plastic panel on the midgate.
I need to get some carpet first.

It was quite a bit of work, but the directions that come with the box make it easier.

I will try to get some pics tonight before it gets dark.

That looks great.  I am thinking about doing it.  I have a kicker 12sl7 sitting in my backseat.  That would be great.  May have to do it.

I just took these pics of the system. Not quite finished, but still sounds good.
Alpine IVA-D100, and center channel speaker. All running to/from an Alpine MRA-F350 theater 5.1Ch amplifier

See how the shape of this box is different. It does not allow me to leave the flap in place that goes inbetween the bed and cab. I still need to figure out what I am supposed to do about the gap?
