Luckily it was a shop before we bought it or they would have a REALLY BAD visit from my Hubby(he can blow his top when he's pissed. He's been banned from a couple of places). We change the oil on ALL of our vehicles to avoid this problem.Whoa! I’d never go back to that shop.

No kidding! This has happened to us before on a previous vehicle. We accidentally shredded the body off, but had enough to work with to remove the whole filter.It shouldn't be difficult to understand the instructions on the side of the filter, but hey, some people
Maybe they got the mechanic mad
but I'd say the previous owner saw an oil leak from the filter and kept tightening to stop the leak
but is actually the oil filter housing leaking. Cracked or gasket.
