Great Video !!!  (y)

I have only one beef...

It scares me that these GM executives are lying right to our faces...

They state that starting in 2007 the Avalanche is the latest vehicle to be added to the E85 line.

Do they think we are that stupid ?

There have been E85 Flex Fuel Avalanches since 2004.

If they're lying to us like this... What else are they lying about or hiding from us ?

Watch the video and please tell me that I misunderstood them...  :6:

I kinda liked the part where he talks about how well the sales were. Leading all sales, Tahoe sales up 53%, yadda yadda. Isn't this the same company that is laying off 30,000 workers and closing plants and alomost bankrupt? Talk about needing some boots to wade around in.

Good point...  I remember that too...

I meant to comment on that.

Sure sales were up on the Tahoe 53% right after the release of the 2007 Tahoe.

What they failed to tell you was that it was probably on sales of the left-over 2005, or 2006 models of the old body style.

People looking for a deal...

Or

People who have always liked this generation Tahoe but were always putting off the buy.  So they rushed out and made the purchase so they could get one before they were gone.

And I'm sure there were also a bunch of people who also have to have the latest and the greatest.  So they ran out and bought a 2007.

But that 53% number is NOT all 2007's

Truth, Hype or babble, it was certainly interesting.

Thanx for the link!

Thanks for the video.  It answered some questions I had about the 07 AV.  I can't wait for it to come out so I can take it for a test spin and possibly purchase.

Luis, If you do get one, I of course want to see it!

I heard 6 ltr

Can I get a beefier tranny with that  :help:  Does towing capacity go up?  I need to do a little more homework.

And flex fuel - I wouldn't know where to get that.  Which engine is it available on?  And I betcha it costs more than non-flexible fuel  ???  So "Go Save the Earth!" I hear them saying but they're not telling you it will cost you more.  Maybe I'm wrong but I'd be interested in hearing from those in the know about this fuel.  What about warranty issues - I'll run flex fuel if it costs less and they up the warranty to 75k miles so I know I'm not going to fry the motor at 37k miles.  They also say they are going to be a major sponsor of that one race - now run those bad boys with E85 instead of rocket fuel and then I'll listen more intently.

If you click on the e85 link on the chevy site it brings you to a site about ethenol and shows hardly anybody actually sells ethenol (you can check your state) and GM has been using the flex fuel 5.3 engine since 2002.  Marketing the flexfuel engine now is an attempt to take the spotlight off of toyota and the hybrid vehicles.  it annoys me that they are treating us like idiots.  I would like to see what they are saying in their marketing meetings, probably "lets deceive our potential customers by making them believe we have something environmentally concious, even though we don't because they can't buy the fuel needed to run it".

7 or 8 months here in Indiana we had one station in the state that sold E85 and it was an hour away from here in Terre Haute. The other day I checked out the E85 website and the search feature and it showed that there were almost 2 dozen in the state. One of which is in Indy.

It will take some time and a few bold folks to make it a more cost effective alternative. But it is getting there.  And depending on where you are, E85 runs anywhere from about 20 to 50 cents less per gallon. Some here that have tried it say that mileage drops anywhere from 10% to 20% though. I think though that it may take a 2 or 3 tanks for the computer to learn the new running habits before one can get a good feel for the REAL effect.

I can't speak for E85, just E10.  I lived in the Chicago area for 3 years.  During that time I bought a 2003 Trailblazer.  Local gas was largely E10 blends.  When I moved to the western NC region I saw my gas mileage jump up roughly 10% in similar driving (70% highway), thanks to the fact that most of our fuel here isn't E10.  So at least for non E85 capable vehicles there is a hit.

Like I said, I can't speak for the E85 capable vehicles or the fuel.  Possibly there are tweaks and enhancements to engines made for it that result in better efficiency instead of worse..

I just looked up E85 "friendly" fuel stations in the state of Texas.  I have more pairs of holey underwear than they have stations.  None in the smaller cities like Dallas and Houston (SpaceCenter one is private).  So far now, I'll let the "save the earth" mantra from GM's marketing people go in one ear and out the other.  I'm not getting excited till I see a 2500 version with a diesel mated to an Allison.  Long live crude  >:D

thank's for the link (y)

I am glad to hear that you enjoyed the link.  They add more videos every day.  It will be a while before we see E85 around Texas.  It has to be manufactured more locally since there are not any E85 pipelines.  I think this may be one of the larger obstacles for mass deployment of E85. Just a thought.

Ethanol only has about 70% of the energy/gallon that gasoline has so fuel mileage will always be lower (given the same driving conditions).? Reports from Nebraska, the middle of the corn belt (source material for ethanol) are that E85 is MORE expensive at the pump right now than plain ole gas which means they're not selling much.? IMHO, E85 is about as useless for the average driver as hybrids are.? But, hey, maybe this will keep the "greenies" off my back while I enjoy cruis'n around in my full-size AV.

He did mention a 355 HP 6.0 All-Aluminum Engine.  Is this the one to be released in the fall?  Also, torsion spring on the mid-gate would be similar to a trunk or tail-gate setup on cars or SUVs.
