What are the differences on a 2500 Z-71 vs a 4x4. Do they make a Z-71 2500? What do you have to do to mod.

One more, what is the best highway mileage someone has gotten on ther AV?

Brian

Officially, the 2500 is a Z85. Major differences are leaf springs in the 2500 vs. coil springs in 1500, different transmissions, and of course, 8.1 liters of raw power in the 2500 baby!!

Don't forget, different frame, axles, wheels ( 8 bolt ) and dual tanks... 8.1 is not known for excellent fuel economy...

I think you'd also want to consider that Z71 gets you bilstein shocks and a full skid plate package that won't be on a 2500. I've driven both on road and they are close in ride, not sure about off roading but I will say the skid plates are very nice to have if you drive off road. (y)

If you need/want the power, get the 2500 but you'll pay for it at the pump, just ask anyone that has one ;)

The 2500 is a great truck offroad ;D. You can always have skid plates installed aftermarket. Usually you can better ones.
I thought that both the 1500 & 2500 have a similar size tank, that would explain why you have to fill up so much :cautious:.

Sorry but all the 2500 4X4's do have the skid plates and bigger bilstein shocks as standard features of the Z85 package.

The 2500 has it all but the mileage.

the 2500 AV does not have dual tanks, it has 1 37 gallon tank...

2500 has the stock 1500 tank plus an extra pony tank to increase total onboard storage due to the worse mpg of truck and gm desire for some minimum travel distance per "Tankful"

as an owner you would not know it had 2 tanks as there is nothing one has to do as the small tank has a pmp to push its contents into the large main tank.

PRetty sure the 2500 'burbs are the same.

Yes, The 2500 Suburban's do have the same tank setup.

The 06 AV 2500 most definitely has 2 tanks. I know I just dropped one, the second one sits above the spare
As someone who has dropped both tanks.

Bummer, this means I may have to remove one more item when replacing brake lines on my 2500. I recently watched several videos of replacing ALL brakes lines on an Avalanche. Guy removed the gas tank to access some brake line connections above it. I believe it was a 1500 though since I was unable to find any videos of 2500's

There is no need to remove the tank, the brake lines run above the frame rail
