Oil Cooler

Yes it's in front of the radiator in the middle

the engine oil cooler is part of the rad. itself
 
I meant engine oil cooler.

I know the trans cooler is in front.

When towing my boat (11,000 lbs) my trans temp is around 180, my engine temp at 200 (have a 180 stat) and my oil pressure drops to 20 psi at idle. I use Mobil 1 10-30 in summer.

I just bought the Tru-Cool 40K transmission cooler. It will be an install project this summer using AN fittings. Does anyone here have experience with those?

Does anyone here know what diameter the steel transmission lines are on the 2500 4L85E? I don't have the truck here with me or else I would measure. I'm trying to find out what size because I'm looking for a Areoquip -6AN female to go to whatever size transmission line.

They are 3/8 or -6AN if you're going to use AN fittings..
 
For anyone who might be following in my path of using AN fittings to install the transmission oil cooler, this part seems to be right: The top photo is a -6 AN female to 3/8.

The end with the brass fitting will be going to the transmission line which will be cut. The other end is a -6 AN female. This will be connected to a -6 AN male to 5/8" fitting. That photo is on the bottom. The 5/8' end will be going into the Tru-Cool transmission cooler.

At least that's how I think this is going to work. Images are not to scale.

Post up some pics when you do the install. Curious where/how you mount it as well. Not very many choices bc of how big it is and the hood latch gets in the way.

But it makes a HUGE difference in trans temp compared to that puny 'cooler' from the factory.
 
On my Tru-Cool 4K install, the hood latch handle tried to barely get in the way.

But a quick zip with a Dremel grinder stone and a spritz of paint took care of that in short order.

Very little material was removed and everything clears nicely.

This is how I'm going to mount it. The parts are from a place called Modern Muscle Salvage. The below photo shows the Tru Cool with the OEM transmission cooler for size reference. These photos are from their website. I'm painting the brackets black in between thunderstorms. I paid $79.95. Money well spent to have it look stock. The brackets bolt to the OEM supports.

The small parts pictured with it are a compression fitting, speed nuts and a couple of other fittings. I'm using the AN parts that I ordered. It's a sketchy website, but I got the parts last week. Here is the link:

Make sure that bracket set will work with our 2500s. I think our hood latches are slightly different. Mine releases under the bowtie. My buddies 06 Duramax releases under the hood.

Either way I'm sure you can make it work but just a thought before you tear in. If it works, it's worth the $80.

I dusted my whole cooler and brackets with some black spray paint and it all blends right in.
 
The instructions said that it would not work on trucks with an Allison transmission, but it would work on 1500, 2500 and 3500 with the 4L60 and 80E transmissions so I’m not expecting any issues.

I used the TRU-COOL TRANSMISSION COOLER BRACKET KIT - 99-07 GM TRUCK when I did the install on 2003 cladded Avalanche Z-66 1500.

Glenn's Auto Performance do not appear to list a distinction between the 1500 and 2500 trucks.

I did use a bracket that came with the Tru-Cool to relocate the outside ambient air temperature sensor.

I did not want that sensor to sit behind the cooler.
