So today I noticed at idle my engine just seemed off, rough idle of sorts, nothing crazy aon the way to work, and then after work.  On the way home, I has the check engine light on come on.  So checked with my code reader and a P0301 came up.

Only thing is the place I trust for my truck, cant get me in until Tuesday.  I don't plan on driving a lot, but I still need to get to work at least a couple days.  Not a far drive.

Can I cause bad damage just driving to and work 2 days and then to the dealership?

Id love to get it in tomorrow, but cant.

This spring I planned on a spark plug change anyway, and Im hoping that's all it is.  They are the original plugs and I just cracked 140K (87000 miles) and its a 2012.  I take care of my truck really well, regular maintenance all around

If I could, I wouldn't drive it at all, but not really an option

Misfire on Cylinder 1.
So could be plug, wire, coil, injector, air leak, Valve issue, compression issue etc.

If not super duper noticeable I would say you would be ok for  bit.

but if it is not burning all the fuel and it is rich the excess fuel in exhaust can ruin cats and O2 sensors.

I'll add that if the check engine light begins to flash at you, pull over and stop the motor immediately.

I was able to get into a place Friday morning that i trust.  It was just a bad plug thankfully.  I was going to try and trouble shoot it Thursday night with swapping wires or plugs, but then decided to just take it in

Replaced all the plugs since it was at 140K.  I was going to do it this spring anyway for all the summer driving so it just sped the process up some.  As well replaced all the wires to.  Now Im good for a long time

Idle is a lot nicer and steady.

Thankfully it was something this minor.  usually I do the plugs before I have an issue with the regular maintenance.

Thanks for the tips everyone

suggest ya drive it around a bit city and highway to get a driving cycle in the computer and it willconfirm all is well.

Drove it all weekend and this morning.  All is well.  And as well the idle needle is steady and a bit higher.  The day the code came up, I noticed the idle was off and fluctuating at red light.
