RC Avalanche 4WD and very fast!

I see several HPI Savages here.  Maybe one of you can give me a few pointers.  I have an HPI Nitro Savage 25 with the 2-speed transmission and reverse module.  I think my tranny is a little goofy because it won't let the motor get up to speed before shifting, then the motor boggs down and the tranny won't down-shift.  I've tried adjusting the shift points with no luck so I can't get the the motor tuned properly either.  I am thinking of replacing the tranny with either a 3-speed or a single speed, but I want to keep the reverse option.  Will the reverse work with the 3-speed?  Anyone one else have trouble with the 2-speed?

I own a hobby store and we have all those trucks.. the escalade body has been discontinued for years...and we did race the trucks thru this year but I had to sell my building that im in and lease from them as the internet just does not get along with this type of business like many others...but I am still wingin it...I have flown all the helis and planes and raced many trucks...
 
Only one I could find that looks with a post '07 body.

Don't know what the scale mileage is but it's faster than my dog Max on flat ground.

where are you guys finding the avalanche boddie? I want to build a scale 1.9 crawler but cant find a good boddie :/ heres my Traxxas slash so far more money in mods to this then the avy :( but I have had it for 3 years and avy for one
the rig I want to make scale basically just gona take the axles off of it
