Volume Bottons on Steering Wheel, Lighted?

I am wondering if the volume control buttons on the steering wheel are supposed to be lighted like all of the other radio and cruise buttons on the wheel.  Just the two volume buttons on my wheel are not lighted and want to know if it is supposed to be that way or if I need to take it in to have it fixed.

They replace the entire switch for just the lamp.

Behind the S/W are retaining plastic snap-in's. Relieve the catch and it pops out. Then perhaps you can dissect it and find a "grain-of-wheat" lamp at an electronics store that will work. I hadn't needed to replace mine yet but I'm going to try that first - if & when..

I don't have info if the 07's use an LED there now. But aren't you in warranty?

The volume buttons on our 07's are actually behind the other audio control buttons.  I'll have to doublecheck this evening when I get in my AV to see if they light up with the others, but I don't believe they do.

I have a feeling that they do not light like the others but just noticed it the other day.  Please let me know what yours do.

Yes it is under warranty but I do not want to take it in if it isn't broken.

With the considerable design change from the prior MY's, you do have a point. And GM saves another 5? on a light, too!

Thanks guys.? I guess GM decided to save a dime on that lightbulb.

I don?t really see a need for them to be lit; the volume controls are intuitive?the up volume even has the ?detent? in it to differentiate the ?feel? of it from the down control.

I agree.  I actually like the arrangement of the new audio controls.  If I hadn't experienced the cruise setup in the Terraza first I'd like the cruise controls better than I do.  They're still pretty good, but the Terraza has a stalk that falls under my fingertips at the lower right side (and just behind) the wheel.  Tap up or down to do all the set, resume, increase, decel operations, push back (toward the dash) to cancel cruise, and use a button on the end (like the cruise set button used to be on the truck's super multifunction stalk) to turn it on or off.

Ideally I'd love GM to move the audio controls to the opposite side of the wheel (mirrored from where they are now) and stick the cruise on a stalk like that.  Keeping everything tactile and perfectly to hand without releasing my grip on the wheel.

Yeah, I don?t find the cruise controls on the wheel all that great.

Since my left hand is usually on the upper part of the wheel, the turn signal stalk seems more convenient to me.

Personally, I?d rather have the heater/AC controls on the wheel.

I hear you.  I actually have to release my grip to hit the buttons on the cruise right now (except for that LARGE cancel button :p).  With the cruise where it is on the Terraza, I can slide my right hand to about the 3 o'clock position and use my pinky to change the setting while keeping a good grip.  Pretty much like I do to hit the volume buttons on the Av (finger in question changes, but hand position and grip are both the same :D).

Hello,

Ok, so this answered my nagging question regarding the volume controls, but how about the cruise control on/off button?  Is it lighted?  All of the other cruise buttons are lit, but the main center button only seems to have the amber dis/enabled light.  Is this true?

Tim
