?Hi all, I am looking hard in the Upstsate NY area for a new Av. Go for an '02 now? Or wait for the '03.
Can the air conditioning be used while towing?

Yes the AC can be used while towing....

As for what year 02 or 03 I say a tough choice...good luck

Does the Chevy employee discount come off the invoice price?

The GM discount comes 1 of 2 ways. ?You can take one of the lot, or have a dealer trade for one, or save an extra $500 by ordering exactly what you want. ?The discount doesn't come off the invoice. ?There is a diferent pricing scheme they use for employees. ?I'm not sure as to the specifics, but we get certain %'s off of the different classes of vehicles GM offers.

I would suggest taking the rebate and financing on the 02's. ?You're not going to see anything like that on the 03's.

I'm not a towing guru, but I don't think there's a prob using the ac while towing.

This is good information, as I had a similar question this very morning...I qualify for a GM employee discount through a relative. My dealer seems more anxious for me to take an 02 off his lot and get the rebate. He wouldn't go into detail on the other option, ordering from the factory. He just said that only works for 03's now. Actually he said the factory order is a better discount, but with the price increase for an 03 I probably wouldn't come out ahead any (I'd just have a newer model).

If anyone has ordered direct from GM with an employee discount, I'd like to hear their reasons and regrets, if any.

Its more than just a new model. I was going through the same problem. But it all boiled down to the idea that if I'm going to spend that much money than I wan't all the options/colors that I want. I don't want to look back in five years and say to myself, "Sure I saved $2000 but this color blows and I wish I would have gotten XXXX with it". I would say get together a list of must haves and see if you can find an '02 with them (gonna get harder and harder though). Or be patient and order an '03. They have done alot of great changes to it (enough to make me wait). Like 6 disc Bose system, radio control on the steering wheel, dual zone climate control, better brakes and transfer case, ect. They are just little things but to me sometimes thats whats makes the checks to GM easier to make out. Good luck with your decesion.....and I think GM started up the '03 line this week. "03's are on there way!!!

IMHO the options on the 2003 make it worth missing out on some of the incentives, particularly if you are going to finance it. After all what is another 3K over 3-5 years?

About $58 a month at 6% for 60 months.

Let's not forget one important detail here folks....some of the items that came standard equiptment on the 02' Av's are now considered options on the 03'.....as a matter of fact I shot over to KBB.com and priced my Av with the same options based on the 03' template and came out about $2-3 thousand more expensive....

My advice is to look into an 02' with all the options that will make you happy....and then take advantage of the deals that are out there...... :B:
