I'm finally getting underway changing out the blows system and I run into my first problem.  I'm installing my PAC adapter to go from the factory head unit to aftermarket amps and now my cd player doesn't work.  At first it said no CD (when there were 5 in it) or something and now it's showing that there's only a disk #4 but it won't play it, eject it, etc.  I absolutely want to keep the factory 6 disk changer with xm and get rid of the blows speakers and put new ones with new amps. But I also want my cd player to work.  BTW the truck is an '04 without onstar.  has this happened to anyone?  Does anyone know how I can fix it?

Pull the radio fuse and re-insert it in around 20~30 seconds. See if that will restore CD operation.

Audio connections to the adapter should not have caused a problem. The HU disconnect/reconnect may have "glitched" something, so a power source interuption reset may work.

Good luck! :)

that was going to be my next suggestion...

My mom just had to have her 4th HU installed...She has never done any aftermarket mods to the truck... ???

I have the same problem on my '04 Z71.  I had the same problem royco had until I removed the fuse and reinstalled it.  Now the system doesn't even recognize the cd player exists.  Once in a while I can get it to say "initializing" by playing with the load button.  When I hit the eject button now it says there are no cd's in it, but I know for a fact that there are 3 cd's in it.  First problem I've had with the truck.

Any help would be appreciated.

They do jamb up on occasion. Mostly with the labeled CD's.

It'll just need to be serviced or replaced! :(

There were software updates for other (UB1) HU's with a similar problem, however you would need to check with a dealer regarding any for the UC6 HU.

It might be something I might be able to tackle.  I'm fairly good with my hands and it looks easy enough to remove.  If I remove it, is there anything special I need to do when I reinstall it?  I'm pretty sure there is some sort of theft protection circuitry that disables the unit when it is disconnected.

I really want to avoid donating to the Mr. Goodwrench Christmas party again if I don't have to.
