Sorry I didn?t know if this should go here or in electrical

I searched and could not find a answer for the 07?s

How do you disable the automatic headlights on an 07 and I don?t mean turning the spring loaded switch every time.

I installed HID?s so I NEED to do this

I start the truck in the garage lights on = BAD
Parking garage multiple times & places = BAD
Home again into garage on again = BAD

If I were trying to do it, I'd unplug the light sensor on the dash and see what happens.  Thay may make them stay on all the time, or it may disable it.  Someone else may know for sure.

D'OH

if anyone knows.. wow, i mean, shiett, i'd die for a 5 second delay too..

That headlight sensor sounds like the best idea I've seen so far. I haven't had any of those issue with mine.

Well had it at the dealer gave some line of? :7: that they can only disable it in the computer for municipality's and so on? :E: so i will be hoping to find out how to do something with the light sensor

I haven't pulled the light sensor in my Av, but I have in my Vette.  It's the little dome on the dash.  On the back of it a wire clip plugs in.  If you can figure out how to remove it from the dash you can unplug it and see what happens.

Keep in mind that it effects more than just the headlights.  It uses that sensor to adjust the level of the dash lights as well, so if you unplug it your dash and radio may be more difficult to see.

Reviving this post b/c I am also interested in disabling the auto headlights.  Anyone find a solution to this yet?

If you unplug it, it will also affect your climate control.
Probably not the best idea.
I was thinking the same thing..  I think it measures the sun load..  Im thinking a relay with a time delay of 15 seconds or so...
I have the same problem, its way to sensitive,(damn covered parking)  But i figure by the time it burns out theyll be giving away HID's with a pack of gum...  And mine only cost 100.00 anyway..    Ill be the worst case guinee pig and let you guys know when it  burns out..

Hi there the auto headlamps on my 2007 Avy are disabled! This is how it is done! Place your fingers into the defroster vents on the top of the dash. Use both of your hands and pull up on the dash hard! You can then reach under and pull out the light sensor with one hand while holding up the dash with the other hand! The dome on top of this sensor will stay in place on the top of the dash after you pull the bottom out with the two wires on it! You will see the exposed light sensor now just twist the wires on the end together and cover them with some electrical tape! Place the sensor wire back under the dash but not where it was under the dome. Use tape to hold it so it will not rattle around under the dash! Now just push the dash back down into place.   You may also want to pull the headlight switch. I used two butter knifes covered with electrical tape to pry this out. It along with the 4x4 switch will come out together easily. The back part of the light switch you can pry off and inside there is a small spring that prevents the the switch from going from auto to the off position. Just pull the spring out replace the cover and put the switch back in place in the dash. I have had this fixed for almost a year now with no problems at all.
