Hey folks,

My trans temp runs around 190.  It seems a little high to me but the dealer said to not worry.  Does this seem right to you?

Every other truck I've had was a lot lower...

Mine runs around the same. I have seen it up to 205 then it drop down to 170 or so... Usually right around 190. I asked the dealer and he said that is the operating range for it....

Overheating is around 260. I had him look it up. Took about 1/2 for him to find it.

Just made a trip from PA to FL  1200 miles each way. I drove straight through coming back and had NO issues.  [Better than my last trip to FL in 2005 where we broken down in my wife's durango at midnight in Flat Woods, WV - about 3 hours from home.  Funny thing is that we stopped at Flatwoods on he way home for dinner, and I insisted that we go to a place for dinner by the Chevy dealer - just in case.  Ok major off topic....]

A short road trip this weekend w/ my 1 1/2 week old LTZ w/ 4.10s ranged between 165-185 with ambient temps in the 80s (maybe low 90s).

Depends on
weather
Driving style
Payload
towing
etc etc

Jimbo.... are those oil temps, or transmission temps? Two seperate cooling systems, no?
the chart he posted is for Tranny oil temps...

does'nt matter whose chart you use , they all agree 175 is optimum temp for long life(100,000 miles). the 4l60e is already stressed in a fullsize truck, why not help it and keep temps low!!!  just my 02 cents

I also wish it were lower.  I've always had the trans temp lower on every truck I've ever had.

Wonder if GM will have a change for this or whether I'll have to put in an additional trans cooler...

i'd add an additional cooler,$$$ well spent!!!

I ran that high before I added the aux cooler. Now I enjoy slightly over 150 degrees
