From Yahoo news....

Another big truck that will be unveiled in Chicago is the 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche, which goes on sale this spring. GM says it was the first to combine the comfort of an SUV with the cargo space of a truck when it launched the Avalanche in 2002.

This time around, the Avalanche has GM's new full-size SUV platform, which gives it improved fuel economy, more precise steering and a quieter interior. The company is hoping the 2007 model can revive Avalanche sales, which fell 21 percent last year as newer competitors like the Honda Ridgeline, Nissan Titan and Toyota Tundra grabbed sales.

Gads man, the American press HATES GM.  Newcomers like the Toyota TUNDRA?  Say WHAT?

A for effort
D for fact checking

Just a reminder that the prototype/show vehicle is far from a truly accurate representation of the final mass-production quality.

Some highlights:

New features on the '07 model enhance Avalanche's flexible attributes and reflect customer feedback:

* Central-locking tailgate -- locking and unlocking the tailgate is more secure, as the conventional keyed lock is removed from the tailgate. Locking and unlocking functions are handled by the interior lock switches or from the Remote Keyless Entry fob.
...

* Cargo cover retaining straps -- new straps allow the cargo covers to be held securely in place when removed from the storage compartments.

Avalanche also has a new tailgate that is spring-loaded to reduce the effort needed to open or close it.

Does that mean that it will have cladding then?  Cause things like "tough,"  "off road," "truck," and "Z71" are about as far from this abomination of the Avalanche as you can get.
