I had to give my av a mod for christmas! I was able to put in the billet lazar star 100 watt lights, almost flush mounted, thru the rear bumper step.
the inside back of the step is on an angle, and the lights mount from behind, with the top flush, and the bottom sticking into the step area less than 1 inch.
this was a clad cut, and the metal backup panel, behind the clad... they came out ...almost perfect, and I know my flaw, on the second light install.
when drilling, inside the bumper step, first use a small drill, for the center hole ...exactly where you want it, becaust the ..2 1/16 hole saw, will walk on you if you dont have the perfect center hole first, due to the angle in the back of the step.
I had the center marked in the clad, and cut the second hole in less than 5 minutes, with the 1/2 inch drill, and the 2 1/16 hole saw,and it was about 1/4 inch off, and it still looks ....awesome, and now when i go to reverse, ...191,000 candle power...x.2.
it light up the wall of the warehouse, across the street, and I can see really good , back there now.
I have not installed an overide switch, for...you know... the guy behind you with his brights on.
this is a tough mod, hard to cut, and line up mounts, but I found a natural place in the rear frame, for the continous duty solenoid, got the ground on left rear, from the existing ground, the power from the blue(brake controller) hot wire at the trailer plug, and used the light green, the center pin, in the trailer plug, to kick in the solenoid.
my christmas lights this year are in the avs rear bumper steps!!!!! i have a few pix if any avr wants..g-c
