I just ordered my AVIC-D3 today at crutchfield with the free backup camera ($250 retail). The HU is out of stock but it will ship when they get it in by the first week of May. I also found a coupon code for 15% off 3 or more pioneer products so I ordered 2 pair of the 6 3/4" 4 way pioneer speakers to replace my factory speakers, and the Pioneer Sirius radio tuner. that saved me like $400+ dollars off the total normal price of these items counting the backup cam. Along with a few misc items like crimp caps & the Onstar bypass it was like $1200 even shipped. Not to bad considering my local A/V shop wanted $950 just for the HU alone. As I posted in a previous topic,

I have gotten the '03 radio bracket for the install on my '02 with 1 1/2 din opening. I also got a '03 radio bezel on ebay. I have been trying to decide on what method to do the mod, using my '03 stuff or modifying my current bezel. I am not to comfortable cutting up my bezel so I WAS leaning against that method but the bezel i bought has a slight color difference (lighter) than my current bezel and I want it to look as factory as possible. I also want to be able to revert to the factory 1 1/2 din setup so that someday, hopefully years from now, I don't have to sell my HU with it if I don't want to. I would maybe be open to buying an '03 factory 2 din HU to replace it though (if that works) when the time comes. has anyone done the mod using any other method then the one posted here?

This may be beyond my capabilities and talent, but if it comes down to it I may give it a shot if I can find and exact replica of my bezel to try it on. All the bezel I have found seem to have that slightly different color '03 and up or are wood grain, carbon fiber, etc. Any Ideas? The part I don't like is the AC unit being slightly covered up on the outer edges and the new bezel hangs down a little to far.
Any Comments or Ideas will be greatly appreciated!!

Also forgot to ask, Does anyone know if you can ad a pioneer or other brand DVD/CD Changer to the AVIC-D3 so you don't have to remove the Nav disc from the HU to watch movies or listen to CD's. I assume you can't but I know it will except a CD Changer and I thought pioneer makes a DVD/CD changer as well.
Let me know!
Thanks.

I know ItsStopher and Grnxnam have both done this mod in the past..  Both looked great after install..  Should be back a few pages..

Return the on* adapter, next year the 02's will no longer work  :(

I modded my dash to fit the 2 din (I even used the old radio mounts off of the radio to fab one up for my D1) and an 03 bezel to finish it up  I did have to trim around the lighter door and I cut off most of the ash tray door so it would still open (I do not smoke but I do keep stuff in it) As for the AC buttons, I just sanded down the sides a lil bit so it did not cover it up as much.

i did the same on mine about two years ago but i kept my 02 bezel and just cut the middle part instead so 1.5 din becomes 2 din  >:D

You mean the Onstar Itself won't work next year? I don't have Onstar active right now, but I wanted to get the adapter so I would have that option of using it if I decide to.
Let me know. I wasn't aware of this.

How did you mod your '02 bezel to work? do you still have that middle piece seperating the radio and the AC unit?
This is kindof what I want to do so that my bezel fits like it's supposed to and my AC units fits right.
How does your look? did you use an '03+ radio bracket? post a pic if you can.

Thanks!
