2002 Avalanche 6.2 Vortec swap?

It's not a easy swap, the 6.2 controls are different.
Here's a old thread, sadly the picture links are no longer working

i was told it was very simple, i was originally planning on doing a duramax swap and was told this would be much easier as most of the parts would be the same.

Parts wise, they are the same. The LS series motors are externally the same, for the most part. You can swap water pumps, motor mounts, a/c, alternator, p/s, and related brackets. Between the different generations, there was some difference in cylinder head design (cathedral port vs. rectangular port) and different valve sizing for the larger bore engines. So, you can run cathedral port heads, say from a 4.8L on a 6.2L, but you can't necessarily run the 6.2L head on a 4.8L or 5.3L.

As for swapping the 6.2L into your Avalanche, physically, it will bolt right in. You may have to swap some accessories to get your hoses and lines to line up correctly, but that's not a big deal. The real hurdle is going to be the electronics. You can swap your 5.3L sensors over to the 6.2L engine. If the 6.2L has cathedral port heads, then your 5.3L intake will bolt up as well, no issues. You might be limited by the 5.3L injectors, but you won't know that until you get it running and the computer tuned for the new engine.
