Wife says it's cold - which is an immediate indicator something is being added to my "honey-do" list.  So I am now, with a smile on my face and love in my heart, looking for a remote starter for our 2002 NFE.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a remote start?  Any I should stay away from?  Is there a particular Brand/Model we should consider?

I've looked through the forums and reviewed the how-to's - but need to get an idea of what we should purchase first.

Thank you, in advance!

Compustar is best unit out there.
I have one on my '03 but they are the same setup. I also added their car start unit to my '09 Cadillac CTS-4 that did not come with car start.

You can have it work with factory remote, which will require 3 presses on lock button to start. (using this on both my truck and car)

You can have an add on remote but be aware that the car start works by pressing one button for 3 seconds. I have a 2way remote for my truck but it is very annoying because I accidentally start my truck all the time... And since it has a 1/4 mile range I don't necessarily know it. You want to check the remotes to find one you are less likely to press. If they would change it to require a 2 button or a sequence it would be much better. Note, I did NOT get an add on remote for my CTS but may in the future.

You can also add the "drone" which is a Verizon linked remote access accessory. You can open doors, start the vehicle etc from a PC with internet connection or your phone with an app. It will also track GPS although not fully live. (Think it updates every 30 seconds or so.)

I have the drone on both of my vehicles.

I go to school and I have problems finding my vehicles in the parking lot but with the premium service it will give the location of the vehicle within like 10'. If I park my vehicle at a remote lot and take the campus bus that takes 15 minutes. So in my case I start the vehicle I drove when I jump on the bus and it is all warm by the time I get to it.

Oh yea, and if you have seat heaters it can be programmed to turn them on when cold enough...

Very nice system but can be a little costly when you add the Drone. (just paid $400 for the start only add on with drone and no secondary remote)
