2002 vs 2005 vs 2007?

Hi,

I am in the process of looking for a new vehicle.  I am a really big guy both width and height so finding a ride that is comfortable is a real hassle.

I tried a 2005 Ava and it is the most comfortable vehicle I have tried so far.  When configured with the bench seat and not the plastic center island it is leaps and bounds ahead of everything else I have tried.

I have been pricing them out and the low millage 2005's are a bit more expensive than I wanted to spend.  There are some 2002 and 2003's that are more in the 15-17k range that I was hoping to stay in.    I am wondering if there are any major differences between the years that might sway me one direction or another?

My main goal is to find a comfortable car that is reliable and as hassle free as possible.  I am replacing my old 92 Buick LeSaber and am hoping to find something that gives me less trouble.  I am looking for something to commute in and have no plans to tow anything.  I don't really need a truck or SUV, but those are the only vehicles big enough for me to fit in. lol.  I actually want a VW bug, but only for the clown car effect it would have when I get in and out. :)

Is there anything I should be worried about when comparing Ava's of different years?  Right now my only metric is really front seat configuration and millage so any info would be helpful.

Thanks!

:welcome: to the club Taper.

I own a 2005 and love it. Hopefully some folks around here that have had the earlier Avalanches can give you their feedback ( good and bad ). Good luck.

I own a 2002 with 37500 miles on it and haven't had any propblems yet and I love my truck the only reason I bought an 02 instead of a newer one is because It had less miles on it.

if you can find a good deal on a 02, go for it, you will actually have some extra lights that they decontented in the later years

Welcome to the club..  Which ever you get, I am sure you will enjoy it..  But if you getan 02 you will have more $$ for MODS....

Hi Tapar,

I am 6'8" 325 lbs. and I love my 2002. I am looking into the 07 right now, but as far as fit goes, I am very content with my current truck.

LOCK THIS THREAD DOWN!!! no need to think about it... get a 2002 its the best there was, best there is and best there ever will be  >:D >:D >:D >:D >:D

i have a 2002 with almost 100k and still no problems.  Whatever your decision is, im sure you will be happy with it because of the comfort..

i have 3.5/4.5 drop on my truck and people are saying it is still more comfortable than a 3 series bmw (i wouldnt know, i dont own one)

GOOD LUCK with you decision and CONGRATULATIONS on getting an avalanche... you wont be disappointed  :B: :B:

As far as comfort goes... any year should be fine.... for the best seats, either the bench seat or the leather seats are the most comfortable... I had the sport cloth buckets and they did not fit my back well... painful on long trips...

obviously the 02 will give you the lowest price, the 05 is still new enough that you can get fairly low mileage but of course the value will be higher.

the 07 is a totally different animal... It is more comfortable and quiet than previous years and comes standard equipped with a new car smell and price tag.

whichever you choose...

Enjoy and hoppy modding!!!!

i have a 2003 with 50100 miles.. extended warranty until 60k.. z66.. a lot of options.. except sunroof, selling it for like 15500, no less.. to cover pay off, pm me if interested or it's going to the dealer!!!!!!

:welcome: to the club tapar. If you don't plan to tow anytin, in fact, you said that you don't need a truck, try to find an 02' with the Z66 package. You will get better MPG on a 2wd and with the Z66 you'll get a better ride.

Any year Avalanche will be comfortable, you just have to find one you like in your price range.
If you don't need a truck and gas mileage is a concern, maybe the Volkswagen isn't a bad idea.
