Found an '04 2500 loaded with 10K miles for about 29 thou'.

Tryin' to decide if I want a 1500 or a 2500.

Any big difference in the ride of the 2500?

I looked at buyin' a Dodge Ram for 2 weeks. Didn't even think about buyin' a Chevy. Saw an Avalanche and got to check it out. I will be buyin' one. Just tryin' to decide on a 1500 or 2500.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

It really depends on what you are looking for. Do you want power or good gas mileage. The 2500 has awesome power, 325HP & 450LBS of Torque, it is going to be great for towing and really great for offroad power, but you are going to get killed at the pump especially if you are in a state with $2.00+ for regular :6:. On the other hand the 1500 will get better gas mileage about 14 and 16 which is a great improvement over the 2500. The 1500 will get 295HP & 350LBS of Torque, but it does accept alot more mods than the 2500, and you can still have a lot of fun offroad. My Blk NFE 1500 is an awesome offroad machine, if this is your thing then I would go with the 1500, and you should check out the "Lifted Nation" in the offroad section. Also you should PM some of the other members, like the 2500s and some other 1500s.

Well put ...

I hear the 2500 is a bit more stable in a crosswind, etc, mainly since they're heavier. (That's from an owner who had both..)

2500 components are more heavy-duty.. Trans, Diff, brakes, suspention, etc. and more fuel tank capacity for the beast under the hood.

If you're not towing over 5 to 6 K#, the 1500 will do just fine. They can tow more, but then it depends on how regular you would tow heavier trailers. Gear ratios effect that too..
