2006 chevy navi radio 15229287, will it play dvds?

i installed a unlocked 2006 navi unit p/n15229287 in my 2005 avalanche, eveything works great (have not got a map dvd yet), but when I got home, went in and got a dvd, had the truck running, in park, but wont play dvd , shows  on the display " is this the correct map dvd?" do i need to install a map dvd in this unit first, before it is able to play movie dvds?

If I remember right none of the 05-06 Navs will play a movie DVD. You can buy a adapter for it. You would need a video and audio adapter

do you have a DVD logo on the bottom corner of the radio unit? If not, it's not a DVD player.
