It has the new Tahoe front end.  I'll need to see more pics.  It doesn't jump out at me.

Hmmm Thats........gonna take some getting used to.

I expected it to look like the Tahoe, the official word was GMT900 SUVs and pickups wouldn't share the same sheet metal from the doors forward. That wasn't very enlightening but was a clue the Avalanche would share with Suburban/Tahoe

I thought it was supposed to have a "more aggressive and unique front end" in comparison to the Tahoe. ?What gives? ?It looks the same, or really, really close to the Tahoe to me.

I am very, very disappointed. ?I know the cladding was controversial (i love mine), but it truly made the AV aggressive and unique. ?They dropped the ball on this. ?I guess before I consider one, I should wait until a company makes a front bumper kit for it that is actually nice looking. ?Thumbs down GM.

well have to wait till this summer for the Z71 bumper :needhug:

Just like the original. ;) I happen to like this one. But then I also like the new Tahoe.

hmmm...didn't take me any time to get used to the original.? I loved it instantly? from the pre-production pics through the first one off of the assembly line.

then came the WBH  :9:

and now this  :D:

My first reaction.

NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

:6: :6: :6: :6: :6: :6:

HOWEVER, I had a very negative reaction to:

My first viewing of the 1989 Ford Probe in May of 1988. ?I thought BLECK - and ended up owning and loving one in August of 1988.

My first viewing of the Chevrolet Avalanche at the Seattle Auto Show in 2001. ?I thought overpriced, over the top, way to big, look at all that plastic, who would every buy one of these damn things. ?Then I ended up starting this dayum club :2: and spawned off a couple of problem children.

I have to say - I LOATHE the completely painted front end on the Avalanche. ?I would have hoped they would have put a real bumper on the front for winches, etc. etc. ? With no 3/4 ton version in 2007, and only the 3/4 ton accepting a snowplow out of the factory I suspect the Avalanche in all configurations will not accept a fifth-wheel and will not be allowed to use a snowplow and keep your warranty.

Bad, bad, bad, bad, bad. ?And yes, Honda has done a good job of copying GMT900 and getting it out to market before GM did. ?:E: :E: :E: :E: :E:

ooooh, is that how it went down?  I was just assuming that GM copied honda's copy...makes more sense now.

It's still ugly though.  And Walmart continues to suck.

The sheet metal for GMT900 would have been well past the drawing board by the time the Rideline hit the dealerships about a year ago.  Automotive engineering has gotten better, but a complete reskin based on what the competition is doing in under 10 months on soemthing as critical as GMT900?  Utterly impossible.

Wal-Mart SUCKS!

The only reason I bought my AV was versatility. Not looks. I didn't like the looks when they came out and by and large aren't too fond of it now. I can see where adding aftermarket items like lifts and tires and whatnot makes them nice looking trucks, but off the showroom floor they are not that pretty. Still.

My  :6: was more in reference to the "blanding" of a unique (albeit IMO not particularly good-looking) stock design. They have managed to take a stand-out, eye-catching vehicle and make it look "regular". Just like sooo much of the other crap on the road.

Thank goodness for the Chrysler designers! At least they give us something to look at.

And, like Rich and Chief, I think Wal*Mart still sucks.

This watered down version of the original sux... (n) (n)

The only thing I find mildly interesting...is the lower front bumper...which mildly reminds me of the cladded Av's...albeit painted...but the fog/DRL lamp housings appear to have been brought forward...

We're gonna keep ours, and are considering a second one...but it won't be an '07...

I bought mine specifically for the looks.  I fell in love with the pre-release pics of it and I knew from that point that I wanted one. Production version was a little different but not that much.

Better hold onto your 2002 - 2006 Avs. Because with looks like the new 2007 model, there probably won't be a 2008 version!!!

What Mark said. Once upon a time, Chevrolet built something that looked as unique as it was. Heck, five years on, and you can still pick out a "real" Avalanche a mile away. But with the WBH option and the official death of the "real" Avalanche in 2007, this once unique vehicle is just another truck with a trick option.

Ah, well. I guess the writing was on the wall when the WBH's outsold the cladded. I'm sure the fading problems Chevrolet has had with the cladding was the final nail. Still, there's only one original Avalanche, and it has cladding, damn it!
