from practicality standpoint long bed Crew cab is only thing to compare...to avy since it is only truck that has 4 doors 2 rows of seats.....as well as an 8' bed...



but for physical size...a short bed one... Or suburban...hehehe

 
They both give you the ability to lock up 8' of cargo space or seat six comfortably..  extended cab long box or crew cab short box can't do both...even though the Av can't do it at the same time, I very rarely need six people & 8' of cargo space.
 
To Mr. Big Blockhead:
I'm not a fan of coil overs because of some limitations I think they present. Maybe with the engineering of these new systems GM has overcome some of the limitations but here are my views.

1) Most systems I have seen have limited suspension travel. This is OK if you're building a street rod but on a 4 X4 this will limit you ability to go off road. If you can find a system that gives you as much or more travel great!

2) Cost. Aftermarket systems are not cheap and if you have to replace the shock portion you have to deal with removing the spring. That may require special tools plus it increases the cost for the shock.

3) Are there specialized springs out there for off road use? Otherwise it would be like taking you car off road. The suspension is not capable of handling the rigors of off-roading.

4) Before you take that plasma cutter to the center crossmember make sure it's not just a mount for the torsion bar. If it also is a structural member to prevent frame flex you might be creating more problems than you're solving.

I hope this has answered your question. Like I said I'm going to have to crawl under both 2WD & 4WD versions of the new Tahoe just to see how The General has handled the front suspension. Should be interesting.
