So, I installed my Clifford 50.5x alarm/ remote start with perimeter sensor, interior siren, glass breakage sensor, battery backup and tilt sensor in my ford fusion. Has anyone done a DIY install on their Avalanche?

Yep, did it in my old 05. Did not add one to my 08 and I'll never add one again. I have wired dozens of 12v systems, add-ons and accessories over the years including two world record holding vehicles, one being one of my AVs, and I'll never willingly do another muilti-point alarm in a GM vehicle. The harness spiders into like 25 different sources and is a major PIA.
To each his own, but I wouldn't suggest it. If you are going to, I'd explore it first and make an educated decision on weather or not you actually want to do it.

What I've been trying to accomplish is this. My LTZ has the factory alarm and remote start. Outside of adding the factory shock sensor and tilt sensor, I want to add flashing led and siren. Do you know of a way off adding the led and siren to the factory system?

For 2006 and newer you want to get one of the "digital" systems. MUCH simpler than a pre 2006 alarm. As Calic says, in earlier vehicles you have to wire into many systems manually.

My 2003 has a computstar alarm/car start that is a hybrid system. It communicates with the data bus to do things like flash the lights and see if the truck is running, blow the horn, use the factory keyless remote (lock button arms the alarm, unlock unarms the alarm, 3xlock signals start my truck.) or lock/unlock the doors.

It still needs like 5 wires hooked up for things like power, ignition and such.

My Cadillac is a 2009 and in that vehicle they added a simple module inline between two factory harnesses and had to add 1 wire.

Note that Compustar requires programming for your vehicle so if you buy one and install yourself you will need to have someone program it for you.

There may be other systems that are simple as well.

Thanks for the help everyone. Decided to go with an Excalibur AL-1860-EBPD alarm/remote start with Blade bypass card.
