ANyone making these yet?  or Does anyone have info. that one manufact. is at least in the works of making one?

I sent Road ARmor two Emails.  The first I got no reply, the second I just sent now.

My Ava will be delivered in 4 weeks and this is one of the first mods I want to do along with the lift.

Anyone?

Haven't heard yet, but I'm looking for something too...perhaps that I can include a warn winch inside.....I've already collapsed the flimsy 07  bumper on my Z71....let me know if you find anything...

mike,
What happened to your stock bumper?  A Z71 bumper?  I thought they were somewhat better than the LS, LT and LTZ bumpers which came out prior?  I am alittle disapointed with the IMO downgrade in bumpers between the 02-06 and the 07.  With the snow we had just today my air dam was trying out a new roll as a plow  (n)

Timgco,
Please keep us updated, a slick looking, functional, Road Armor bumper might be a very cool (and apparently needed) mod for some.

WOOHOO!

I called Road Armor today.  They will have thier first bumper ready to go in one month from today.

They are in the process of moving to TX at this time.  I was told they have already sized the bumper up to the new Chevy front end too.  So, I hope the AV and the Chevy PU have the same mounting points.  If you are interested in one (check out their web page and prices first) and than post here that you'd want one and I'll see if he'll offer a group buy.  I plan to call him back in just under a month.

UPDATE:

I talked with them today and the Av bumpers are pushed back quite far.  :E:

They have a new engineer, and some other things going on.

Lat time I talked iwth them they had test fitted one already.  now I'm being told they will need an Av to test fit when they are ready.

I think they moved to the Dallas, TX area.

Bummer!

Son of .... I'm here in the Denver area also.  I bumped into a snow drift in my alley this winter and bent the POS plastic bumper.  It rubs like hell, but I don't want to get it fixed and it happen again.  PLEASE somebody make a bumper already!!!

Remember that the grill and bumper are one piece. If you change out the bumper for an off road type... What are you going to do about thr grill??

Pete

Most of the companies in the aftermarket steel winch bumper business, had a hard time with the original AV bumpers fitting, and with the new 07 redesign they have to start all over. Stealth Offroad , where I got my bumpers from for my 02, changed ownership 3 times in the past 2 years, the original owners knew what they were doing, the secondary and current owners I can't comment on, they did say that they need an AV to test fit a bumper on in order to start production. That is how the 02 and up Cladded bumpers were made, the original owner had an avalanche and tested various designs on his. That's the only way RA or SOR or even Fabfours are going to be able to start building bumpers for your 07 AVs.

I'm wondering if the 07 tahoe, sub, p/u, and AV would all share the same mounting points for the front clip.

I may just throw a Manik Bull Bar on for now until someone makes a solid bumper for it.  I am concerned about taking this truck off road with a front plastic bumper.... if it ever get here.

Next week is what they tell me.  My coilovers, rear resi shocks, exhaust, CAI, Superchips Programmer, tires, rims, lugs, and lights are all in.  Just need the truck and the actual lift parts now. :E: :E: :E:

Here's an idea for a grille guard.  Not everyone is into the rancher style guards, but here's a link, nonetheless.  The company also makes full front bumper replacements for everything up to an '06.  I'm quite certain that the '07 will be forthcoming.  A call to the company would certainly verify that.  They are all very friendly to deal with.  They also have an authorized dealer in Golden.  Here's the link:

There's a large hollow spot just above the fog lights with nothing behind the flimsy plastic bumper, which collapsed while off roading and accidently pushed it against a dirt berm/embankment.? It pushed inward, and cracked the paint, put gouge marks on it.? Was able to "pop" it back out when I got home, but gouges & paint will require a body shop... Now I envy the 06's out there when I see some real steel... That Ranch Hand creation is very interesting...now if they'd only make it in brushed stainless steel to match the Z71 trim.....

That sure is "not exactly" a 2007 winch bumper....

These would be a winch bumpers which requires that whole cheap plastic mess on the '07 to be removed.

"Real steel" bends too folks, and as I've pointed out here before, a heckuva lot easier than most of you want to admit.

Ask my uncle- he's got a 1997 Chevrolet Z-71 extended cab 3 door pickup with "real steel" bumpers.  I managed to back into it with my wife's 05 Terraza (VERY low speed).  Just fast enough to not set off the van's backup warning sensors in time to avoid hitting the truck.  The van needed a new rear bumper cover because the bumper bar under the cover pushed through the cover in a small spot, and it wasn't cheap at about $600 total, that much is true.  But he didn't come out free either- the factory chromed bumper ended up needing replaced too, despite what looked like minor damage, and that cost him $300!

The best course of action is to avoid running into stuff.  Then you don't have to repair or replace ANY of the bumpers.  The second best, assuming you have problems with the first, is to do what the OP of this topic is asking for and get a custom off-road heavy-duty jobbie to replace your factory bumper.  Of course, this applies to ANY of our Avs- the front bumpers'll nearly all take decently expensive damage if you hit something otherwise. ;)

i had those same chrome bumpers you just mentioned.  trust me, they don't compare to road armor.  you would have to be going pretty fast into something very very stout to damage one of them.
