I have a 2010 Avalanche and love it. But at 77 , my eyesight is less reduced a tad. In sunlight I cannot see my instrument cluster. At night, it's perfect.

I have tied to turn on my Parking lights, no success
Have covered up the light sensor on the dash up by the window, no success
Is there another sensor that maybe I can cover up to make the illumination system think it's night time?

I read that there may be rain/cloud sensor ?
Does the front of the rear view mirror have any sensors?
Or could my main lighting control on the lower left of the dash be bad?

Thanks , Jerry

Hey Jerry, I have the same complaint! I think the dash dims even more at night but it is just easier to see at night.

Have you turned the small knob on the lower dash that you mentioned to increase the brightness? You can push that small knob in and it pops out some to make it easier to grab and rotate. Even turned up to the point of turning the interior lights on, it still isn't bright enough for better daytime viewing of the DIC display showing the milage etc.
It may just be as bright as it gets is my guess.

Have you checked the roller on the light switch? it dims the lights.
