Was back visiting family this week and I was talking to my buddy who is a sale manager at a Chevy dealer. He said he had rumors from about a half dozen people that the AV is coming back for 2017. At first he didn't believe it but he made some calls and said it was confirmed. Anyone else hearing this? Looks like I will be trading in if that is the case!  (y)  Would love to see what she is going to look like.

I wouldn't hold your breath. Sales people will tell a customer what they want to hear in order to get them into a showroom.
I would guess if it were true there would be "spy photos" of prototype AVs in the usual "leaked" car photo websites and hints from moto-journalistic websites who get insider info and then maybe a grand unavailing at a large carshow or if marketing has the budget a hint/sneak peak commercial to create excitement and test the waters of customer interest.
It seems though that all we see are old photos or stories rehashed showing things like the accessorized Silverado or some smaller concept AV looking like a modified Colorado platform..
Yet if they can keep building the Suburban there is the possibility of a full size AV as discussed in many threads since the AV stopped production. Seems like someone being optimistic starts a new thread each model year with rumors of restarting the production of the AV.
I wish it was true but realistically doubt it will happen. I also will predict if it doesn't happen in 2017 there will be a new thread started saying it's coming back in 2018...... >:D

Unfortunately, I'd have to agree.  Given that it's already 1st quarter 2016, we would have seen/heard from other sources by now.  Unless it's really for 2018!  (Figured someone would start a rumor, why not me?  >:D)

I will see who he confirmed it with but he is like a brother and I wouldn't be buying from him anyway since he is 500 miles away - no reason to put a sales job on me. If you look up rumors 2017 AV there are a few prototype pics but doubt they are legit.

Asked my Son about this today.. He is the GM at a Big Chevy Dealer down here in GA..

Said they have heard nothing about a new Avalanche...  Sales numbers were just not there on them
for the last several years...

Sales dropped because they removed the cladding!  Avalances are like rats around Colorado.

Biggest sales jump was when they removed cladding for WBH. They must have sold most around here cause they seem way too common for something that suposedly didnt sell...

Not going to happen for 2017. Avalanches didn't sell because GM quit advertising them after the first two years and priced them into the stratosphere on Gen-2.

To advertise the Avvy all they'd have to do:

[Screen fades in from black on a soccer game ending, rain downpouring. Dad is loading the huge, various bags into the sealed bed while the mom and two little-er kids are piling into the cab.

They exchange looks with Surbuban family parked next to them, kids watching the DVD while the backup camera rolls away.

The Silverado family on the other side's bags just getting soaked in the bed.

Switches scenes to Mom and Dad now at buying furniture at a store, with obviously not enough room. As the same Suburban parents are sitting there, hatch open, trying to figure out how to get the couch in, they fold down the midgate and drive on, as the same Silverado does the same in his bed.

Then it shows them up in the woods, boat in tow, and as the sunset hits, the gate comes down with the glass staying in, the covers still on, and we see all four of them snuggled up dry, warm and safely, while the Suburban family does the same, while the Silverado family is split up between the front seat, back seat and under the stars...]

THAT commercial would sell it for MANY people.

I know when me and my family figured it out, I decided my house would never be without an Avalanche.

Seriously.

We don't need a truck that often, but when we do? We NEED a truck.

The rest of the time, for my family of one child and a dog, but lots of gear most of the time, that covered bed is perfect.

Avalanche for life.

I understand that some of what you said was in jest The SpartanKnight but I doubt any car/truck company would want to advertise that anything in it's lineup has short-comings.

(now maybe if an AV was compared to an F150?) They should also remind customers that Dodge was not the first company with side bed storage bins. Also I think we were first for factory bed covers and of course a midgate......

For years we have stated many times that the AV was the Swiss Army Knife of trucks so maybe they could team up with Victorinox and have a specially badged version of the Av, maybe even include a free knife with purchase?  For a younger audience the Swiss Army Knife is also called a Macgyver knife so maybe he could use one in the new TV show as product placement and feature it's versatility too?

If President Trump takes the cafe standards for gas mileage restrictions off, they could come back with the Avalanche. With those restrictions, it's makes it more difficult to reach a high MPG rating with a low MPG Avalanche.
