Well, since the H2 is getting to be old hat. Are you ready for the 2004 H3 ???

Here is the skinny:

"No, you haven?t seen this model before. This truck is an all-new vehicle that GM is getting ready for 2003 production as a 2004 model. Call it the "li?l Hummer," as it will be the smallest of a planned lineup of three SUVs refined for civilian use. They?re all vaguely based on the design of the rugged HUMVEE military vehicle..."

Excellent intel on the H3 - I think it's a no-brainer.

Very interesting point on the solid rear-axle. I've read many editorials and reviews that have serious heartburn that the Jeep Liberty, which replaced the venerable but solid off-road performing Jeep Chrokee Classic (18 year old chassis) has an independent rear suspension. Something that serious off-roaders have vomited all over.

The solid rear axle seems something right up Lutz' alley. First, it's a cheaper proven solution - second - the customer WANTS it. I'd expect to see beefier off-road performance in all of the GM product line where it makes sense.

Now if we could just convince Lutz to make a ZR-2 version of the Avalanche.

I love the interior of the H2. It seems like it have not changed that much from it's concept design. That was an excellent find on the H3. Why Not!!!! It makes sense to offer an S 10 based mini hummer. It probably didn't cost that much to design since all the thinking went into the H2. All they had to do is make it smaller. I think this just furthers my oppinion that this is a great time to be looking for a car/truck. Did you guys see that new Chrysler they are coming out with. It looks like a silver bat mobile.
Check out

I had a Jeep Cherokee that had leaks, and a whole assortment of problems that has made me gravitate away from Chrysler products. With cars like the ones above, they have my attention.
Check out the Chronos, 300 Hemi C, Citadel, and crossfire!!!!! ;)

Aw, man! Does this mean I'm gonna have to hold off on the Av purchase and wait for the mini-Hummer?

I don't think so. I think it will sell, though.

(y)Just got my new motor trend in and put it in the library ;D
Had the update story on the new Hummer 2, in the article they said they would also be adding an avalanche style hummer to the line up.
anyone see any pictures any where
Hey Leather, any news or sightings on the AV style Hummer, one of your pictures, i think the first one showed the orange one, did it have a small bed on it, or was i just seeing things. OOOOOPS, went back and looked and it was actually in your first post on popular mechanics info that they showed a yellow one with a small bed, looked like composite inside.

I have to agree with you about it being a Chrysler. I hate Chrysler. I hate their service department, customer service, and their corporate lawyers are idiots.

not sure if i like that new model. it looks sort of funny. i'm sure they will refine the final product. i hope.

Even with the midgate...that hummer still won't be competitor when it comes to the Av....besides is it me or does that bed look super small even with the midgate...the Av looks like it's got it beat by like 2 feet or so... :B:

Here is another shot of the H2 pick-up.

It's attractive..but there is just something about it that turns me off...maybe it's the lines or just the simple fact that it looks too boxy....I don't know...just a feeling a get.....but of course I had people say the same thing about the Av....I don't think so.... :B:

I think it looks exactly like a small remote controlled version that had been scaled up to full size without compensating for an 'inflated' look. Don't get me wrong, I would love to take one of these out on the trails... say Rubicon? Moab?...

The overall look of the H3, and H2 for that matter, is that they are swollen. Almost look a little in 'over weight'. I think that they need to take some of the roundness out of it - make it go on a diet. Then I think it would get back to the propotions of the original HUMMER. The vehicle we are mentally comparing it to already.

I look at it....and it just looks like a big box.....with wheels....I'm sure that it's great for someone who appreciates it's looks etc....but for me...give me the Av...and let me run from there... :B:

There are a lot of H2's showing up around here and to me the proportions are all wrong, particularly the height of the side windows to the overall height of the doors. They look more like armoured cars than SUVs... >:D

If I needed that kind of brawny offroad capability I would consider it but IMHO I prefer the look of the AV.

In my opinion..the majority of the folks who will purchase that vehicle aren't going to purchase it for it's true meaning regardless.....more of a "look what I got" type of thing.... :B:

You are probably right. There are an awfull lot of posers out there. If the price came down, I would definately consider getting one. Not for show. It would go straight from the showroom to the mountain trails. >:D Not in an attempt to destroy it. I firmly beleive that if you buy something than use it.

If I'm not mistaken..Arnold Shwarzegg..ahhh....he was the first one to buy the original hummer when it debuted years ago.....now tell me if you think he's going to use it for it's true intentions....I would say no.... :B:
