I put the 3M Marine Vinyl protector on my cladding yesterday. Looks good, not much work. Has anyone tried it on their dashboard? Dumb idea?

I would suggest trying it on a small area somewhere that is out of sight and test for negative reaction before applying it to the entire area, I am not sure you would have a problem but better safe than sorry ;)

I'll tell you, I love Zaino Products, but on the dash, it is a bit shiny (Do not mistake that for greasy) might cause reflections... I think most products have that problem...

I use 303 on my dash with no problems. It cleans and gets it slightly shiny without any glare problems on sunny days.

Don't laugh but I like using Pledge furniture polish on the dash. Keeps it new looking and clean without being slick or glossy.

Plus you can buy the type to have a lemony fresh smell. ;D I opt for the smell free.

It works well of the gauge glass as well

Is this watery? white liquid?

I bet it is similar to 303...

Well, here is my take on the 3M Marine Vinyl Protector: Lots of streaking. Ordinary dew apparently floated the excess product and allowed it to flow downward along the cladding and drip and run on the paint. No harm done, because it wipes off fairly easily, but due to the accumulated dust and road dirt I don't want to rub the surface without washing the truck first. So that will add a couple of hours labor. PeeYoo!. I noticed Steelheads response under the 303 post where he advised to wipe off excess protectant with a clean towel to prevent runoff. I didn't do this to the 3M (because it wasn't called for in the directions) and I'll bet it was the cause of the problem. So for now I'll say I like how the truck looks after a 3M treatment, better than new, but I'll have to wait until I do it again and wipe it off properly before I can say if it was worthwhile or not. For now I'm not going to put it on my dash, although there wouldn't be a runoff problem. I'm going to use the Zaino Leather In A Bottle that has gotten such high marks on this site instead. Oh yes, before I close, it is a whiteish gel, goes on so clear you don't think it's on at all, probably causes you to use too much just to make it visible.

your comments kinda confirm what I thought ROD....the 3m stuff is PDMS based like 303 aerospace protectant....consider them the same
