3rd Brake Light

Anyone torn apart the 3rd brake light? ? I was tinkering the other day and under closer inspection it appeared to be a neon tube or some ultra-bright LED illuminated glass rod. ?Does anyone know what they put in there?

whachu you doin there ..man... lookin for a ...mod..i got...avalanche logo on third brahe light out there somewhere...... seen the caddy light? its BIG.... i think all that clad up there must have tape holding it in and i did not want to ruin it... trying for a lighted logo up there? or what?? maybe one of us has been there already,,,, i just popped the logo over the light!!!..you got an idea for a mod on the light??

Sorta, I was helping a buddy of mine make an LED 3rd brake light for his car and thought I'd look at mine to see how the lens looked. To my surprise, it seemed to not be a line of LEDs and some sort of glass rod. I was just curious as to what technology they used to get such a bright output. Maybe I'll take it apart and see this weekend. Always looking for a good mod opportunity.

the words mod, and good mean a lot to me i have studied the sail panel but could not get it to pull offez ez is good mod.. id like to mount lights inside the sail, with only the lenses pointing back i got a set of lazer stars from the dune buggy magazine 2 and a half diameter 100 watt... advise on clad split up there once you figure it out thanks
