Anyone runing 75w-140 gear oil in there Avalanche.
I have 75w-90 Valvoline synthetic now.
Was gona try in my front diff  first.
I got a front end wine might be wheel bearings, replacing them this weekend.

Why?

GMis pretty specific on the oil they want in their Diffys for some reason....
and making it thicker to cure a bearing whine seems the wrong way to fix the whine...

WHy not change the bearings? they whine because something is wrong with them

Viscosity should change according to how you use your vehicle. 75-90 is fine unless you do towing or off-roading. Try AMSOIL 75-110 Severe gear oil if you do some or put a lot of pressure on your gears at times. A lot of rebuiders will tell you to use 75-140 dino. Unless you live in a really hot place and put a lot of pressure on your gears, I always felt 140 was overkill. A good 75-110 is really the way to go.
