This was a vast improvement over the horrible month that GM had in January. This puts Avalanches sold since the beginning of time at 146,808. Obviously the $4K rebates lit a serious fire under car buyer butts.

More alarming was the sharp drop in Silverado sales despite the new vehicle being out and the extremely positive reviews. Silverado sales was down over 25% from same quarter last year. Also of note is the Avalanche has been moved from the SUV count number to the truck number for total sales. Seems Chevrolet is pulling out all the stops to beat Ford for 2003. Probably banking on the fact that F-150 sales are hurt by everyone waiting on the '04 model and both GM and Dodge have new models out ahead of Ford.

Good solid numbers and welcome to those new members in February! ;D

Whew! Now I can breathe a big sigh of relief for the future of the Avalanche (y)! I'm certainly glad to hear that there were roughly twice as many Avs sold this February (a shortened month nonethless) as January.

Any word on how many of those were WBH Avs and whether or not they really gave Av sales a big shot in the arm?

This further proves my point, that so many domestic vehicles, especially GM trucks and SUV's are overpriced from the get go. ?This is also one of the reasons domestic vehicles often have terrible resale values, or at least so compared to imports.

You're better off from the start if you start off with a simplified, lower price, and in sense, cut out the crap. ?So many people lately think they're "getting such a great deal" when they see things like a $4k rebate, and such. ?But, what they never seem to think is how much this must have meant what they're buying is way overpriced in the start.

I mean, come on, when you can buy a new Av for typically $8-9k off sticker without trying, do you think that there might be a discrepancy? ?I'm all for the success of American automakers, but I think people like Honda do it best. ?Offer a terrific assortment of top-quality, segment-leading vehicles all at reasonably nice prices and not have to ever offer rebates, and the like. They just need some work when it comes to styling, sometimes...

But then again, part of the reason automakers like GM have to offer such big cash back is because that's about the only thing they can do to move some of the junk they sell. ?That doesn't pertain to the Av, of course... ;D

Can you post all the Av's sold by month since inception? ???

I haven't been keeping this link up to date lately, however the answer to you questions are
Here.

I'd like to go a step further. I know 2003s are still being made, but I was wondering if anyone has access to totals so far. 2002 and 2003.

Info like how many 1500s, how many 2500s, North Face, Z71, Z66, and a breakdown of how many of each color. I know. I'm asking for everything.

That brings me to the question... Does GM release production total information with specific info or just the total # overall? How many of each were made?

I have written to Chevy a couple of times looking for that brake-down. I was told that "that information wasn't available at that time".

I respectably disagree with this statement. To buy a Honda equivalent to a GM, you have to spend several thousand more, and that is just for the base model. Where Honda and Toyota get their consumers is in the options and the fact that you have to pay MSRP. Except for some of their top models, almost everything is an option. Power windows, door locks, keyless entry, cruise control, automatic transmission, etc, etc.

When I bought my 1999 Grand Am GT, the price was around $21.5K. That included a V6, power everything, automatic, sunroof, cruise control, tilt steering, and a whole host of other "options" that were standard. I compared that to an Accord or Camry with all those options. Granted those cars are slightly bigger than a Grand Am, but not by much.

The price for a loaded Camry or Accord was around $26-27K. And some of the options on the Grand Am couldn't be matched in the Honda or Toyota, like ram air induction, daytime running lights, tire pressure monitor, oil monitor, etc.

The bottom line is that when you compare apples to apples, you are paying several thousand more (+/- $5K)for an equivalent Japanese model. And that doesn't even take into consideration the lack of financing deals or rebates on the foreign makes. The question is whether or not you recover the extra cost through resale. I believe it is a wash at best. If you keep a GM car for 6-8 years, I believe you make out better than with a Japanese model.

And comparing the Av to say a Ram 1500 or F-150, the same issue with options is true. Sure a base Ram or F-150 is considerably less than a base Av. But if you add up the options on the Dodge or the Ford, your price is basically boosted to the Av level, and I think you're getting an inferior overall vehicle. I once looked at getting a Dodge Dakota. The base price was around $16K, but by the time I added up all the options I wanted, it was close to $30K!

Does anyone know if that number is just the U.S. ?

I would be interested to see what the numbers are in Canada if that is only the U.S.

Well we know one went to Australia, right SKIDD ;D

I wonder how many were WBH? I saw a new one coming out of church last week and it was the first one I've seen on the street. Didn't care for it much :-X sorry WBH owners it slipped out. :-[

Wow that an incredible amount of AV's sold guess the General has sold close to or approaching 200,000 units so far since its introduction.
