A/C Condensation Falling On Exhaust

Was wondering if anyone else was having chronic splash - sizzle episodes with the a/c condensation ???. Every time I stop, it is dripping on the exhast.

I haven't had this problem... check the splash tray under the condenser and make sure it is in place or not loose.

hey pntbll,

I too have this problem, although not really a problem. I just assumed it was related to my "August in Texas Air Conditioner Abuse". I have had the controls set to "High" and "66" since about mid June. Even on long trips I keep that air blasting.
There is perpetual condensation dripping and sizzling under the hood. I have checked it a few times, but it doesn't look like it's anything to worry about.
The hissing noise actually sounds kind of intimidating to passersby. >:D >:D >:D

Ditto here. Same problem. 'Bout had a heart attack the first time I heard it though. Once I figured out what it was, I haven't given it a second thought.

It is just a bit disconcerting the first few times - I opened the hood to see what was going on. There is a sheet metal diverter under the can shaped thing that I think is called an accumulator but it obviously doesn't catch drips from all the areas that get cold, condense, and drip.

Put this one in the 'normal' catagory I think!

Called a dryer.......You know I never noticed this...as here in Louisiana the AC is always on, dripping leaving puddles wherever you go.. >:D

One thing to remember...if it ever stops dripping you gonna have a mess inside your truck ;D...so keep the drain flapper clean and mud free...

I hear that! My carport (can't fit into apt. garage :cautious:) has a trail of liquid leading to it every time I park. I was glad to figure out what it was as my old car had an oil problem and I couldn't imagine my new truck leaking anything.

What kind of long term effect will this have. Cold water dripping on a hot exhaust pipe. could'nt this cause cracks in the pipes or rust?

Mine started doing the same this month. I figured it's the August Texas heat and the increased use of the AC at higher cooling levels. I'll check the pan.

Stainless steel exhaust won't rust and the water on the pipe shouldn't be any different than driving in the rain.

Is alarming the first time you hear it pulling into the garage until you find out what the noise is.

Same Here!! This girly thought it was a nasty old snake ;) But, I'm happy to see others worry as much as I.

I don't know where the drain flapper is though...

some non-complicated instructions would be appreciated, or should I let the dealer do it at next service?

THX
