Is it just me or when you turn the heat all the way to red is stays nice and warm, but if you turn the knob one little tick above to say 79 degrees it blows cool air, there doesn't seem to be a happy medium. Is it just my A/C or does anyone else experience this trivial anoyance? ???

For me it's
RedTick=Burn your face off furnace
79 degree tick = Cool outside air ;)

should i bring this in for warranty repairs?

We ARE talking about the auto climate control, correct? I usually set mine to about 77 degrees. When it gets up to temp, the fan slows down to a minimum with what seems to be cooler air. It just seems that way cuz it is blasting heat till temp is reached. What bothers me, is that I have to keep switching between defroster and vents ( /floor) in order to keep the windows from fogging up. I point the A/C vents at the side windows.

I love the auto setting, you just set it and forget it.
Its great for us in the colder climates who have remote starts for those cold mornings

I had the remote starter installed at a local truck acc. store.
I will be taking my new 03 AV in on monday for one also
I am very happy with it.
i had one on my 97 Silverado also.

I am not using the auto control feature just setting it manually, just wondering if I need to take it in for an inspection. I don't get the furnance feature like PoetryBo has it's just warm the cab up and then I need some relief and got to reduce the heat and like you said it feels like cool outside air.

No its not just you! The red position is the maximum heat setting and the system will continue to blow hot air until you melt. When you return the control back to say 79 the sensor reacts to the fact that the cab is HOT and adjusts the air to blow cool in an attempt to cool the cab off. Not only that if you leave the setting on red until the cab gets real hot about 90 degrees when you return the setting to say 79 the air conditioner light will come on because the auto climate control thinks it is in the heat of summer and it turns on the air to cool it off.

Yea I wish the system could sense ice/fog on the windows and adjust the settings for defrosters also, but I guess this is kind of futuristic. ?While I am at it I wish the AV would sense ice/fog on the mirrors and back window too ;D

Although it doesn't warm the interior quite as fast, leaving the control around 77 works fine for me. The only time I have to move the control out of Auto, is when I need a quick defrost.
