A/C Problems With 02' AV

My A/C does not blow on "setting 1"... the dealer claimed it needs some kind of resistor... but he does'nt have it in stock... he claimed this is common on GM vehicles.. I've never heard that... I know I'm one of the few using A/C right now...but in South Florida... we already need it.

Anyone else come across this problem?

Haven't had this problem on my Av, but the dealer is right - there is a block with several resistors on it that are switched in series with the blower motor to select the speed. ?The exception is high blower speed - here a separate relay is energized which puts full voltage across the motor. ?The resistor block is usually mounted through a hole in the air duct just down stream from the blower motor - keeps the resistors cool.
