This weekend Alamo City Avalanche (ACA) will celebrate its one year anniversary, I would like to share a few memories with club members from our madien voyage.

On June 15, 2002, Alamo City Avalanche got its start with a cruise to New Braunfels, Texas under the leadership of Goo929.

I remember the morning of the cruise, Pete was so nervous, he wanted to make sure that everything went off without a hitch, he as always, wanted to make sure everyone was having a good time.

We met at Gunn Chevrolet in San Antonio, TX at 9am. He was running late and called me to keep track of the owners and their AV's as they arrived, because he had a special prize for the first 5 AV's to arrive. While we were waiting for our leader to arrive, we took the opportunity to mingle and meet everyone. We had 2 AV's come in from Houston and 2 from Austin and to join us on our madien voyage of the then unnamed Alamo City Avalanche. KPS and family, from Dallas joined in on the fun and met us at the restaurant for lunch. Goo929 finally arrived at the dealership, after he apologized for arriving late, he handed out the prizes to the first 5 that arrived. He had CAFCNA decals for the winners! He made a great impression on the club members that he had not met before that morning.

After the awarding of the decals and the introductions he asked us all to pose for a group pic before departing for New Braunfels. We were not quite ready for this pic, but it was taken anyway and it is one that Goo really liked. We had the following members on the first cruise from left to right: Mr. & Mrs. Avz66 (Houston), Razz-Tazz & family, Miss Avalanche, Sten (Austin), Fast Eddie, Texascwgrl & Just_Jeepin', Cindy from the Rough_Riders, Stacy & Marlou Gales, Esther & Misty, Goo929, Gandolphxx (Houston), and LiftedZ-66 & his wife (Austin).

After the group pic we got in our AV's and headed to New Braunfels for lunch at the Grist Mill Restaurant in downtown Gruene, Texas. The restaruant sits overlooking the beautiful Guadalupe River.

We had a great time on that cruise, I still remember the cruise like it was yesterday.

I made some friends on that cruise that have become my friends for life, thanks to Goo929 for what he started here in San Antonio with Alamo City Avalanche, we will keep it going for Goo929, as a result of what Pete started, I have made special friends from the Houston, Dallas/Ft. Worth and Austin chapters that I hold dear to me. Goo929 is with us in spirit on every Texas cruise and GTG.

Thanks txyank1, we are trying to keep it "gooing" strong! I had some big, big shoes to fill with the passing of our beloved Goo929 but ACA will keep on cruising....

While that is a fun photo of the group, is there a better one? ?Like one where people are looking at the camera?

There is one somewhere, I will try and find it for you in my archives of past photos.
