I have a MRD-M500 and just in the last week I am getting an E-3 on the display. Checking the manual E-3 means the amp is getting excess voltage and shutdown. It displays the error as soon as it is turned on. I have a cap for the amp with a digital voltage display and it is reading ~14 when running. I took out my multi-meter and checked the voltage going to everything and it is all around 14.4.. I took the load off the amp, checked the fuse, checked the source, no matter what I get an E-3.. Any suggestions?

I have 2 kicker CVR8's wired for a 2 ohm load. I haven't checked them but i did disconnect them from the amp and it was still giving me the error..

The load your amp sees wouldn't matter at all with this error, since this error message concerns the amps input voltage. The load seen by the output channels would be output voltage at the speaker terminals, so it wouldn't matter at all.

I'd say to run it back to wherever you bought it and have them first check it themselves to verify to their satisfaction that it's erroring for no reason and then let them swap it out; I'd say it's screwed up.

Yeah I took it back to tweeter where i got it.. They took a look at it in the car and were satisfied with my install so they are going to fix it or give me a new one now. Yay for showing up 1 year to the day after purchase with a 1 year warranty..
