I did a search but didnt find what i was looking for.

is anyone running these subs in their midgate.
im going to build a ported box for them, and just wanted to know if i should port them instead of seal. and if so, i wouldnt mind some box specifications.

thanks

I have alpine type x 12's in my mid gate. a local audio store custom built it. My other avalanche has type R and the are in a vented box with the vent directly in the middle. Best box for a truck they told me. very loud but low rumbles. ill post pics later today

Behind the wall is just a rectangle box that I am covering in rhino liner next week to water seal it, the box. excuse the dust i live in arizona the dust capital of the world.

I had the Alpine S in a sealed 12 midgate box and sounded really good...blew the back out of the box...so got a new one and ported this time...Ill let you know when it gets here if the ported or sealed sounds better

Building a baffle or trim panel that seals the box to the cab is going to really help how it sounds. It was a big difference on how mine sounded before I but the final panels in. Even with the smallest gaps you lose a lot of the bass to the bed side of the box.

my wifes Avy has two Type R 12's in a the same type of ported box but with no mid gate and its loud but you can tell that they are using the whole entire vehicle air space. It sounds louder outside the truck at high volume. With my setup I can't hear much bass outside but you can feel it a block away. I think you get the benefit of both world by having the custom mid gate to channel the bass in both chambers (BED AND CABIN). I have a loud but low rumble. There is a check cashing place were i live that has all full-length glass windows and you could see them flex!

ps the audio shop instructed me not to adjust my amps because with my setup i can easily shatter my rear window. cool huh? I checked the setting and they are all on the lowest. I haven't heard anyone as loud as me in my area yet. Alpine all the way!
