Okay after much proding from Imaniguana , I am looking to see how much interest there is in a GTG at the Air Mobility Command Museum at Dover AFB, Delaware.

After a wet spring and summer, the Museum finally has it's own gate. That means that the museum can be accessed from St. Rt. 9 without having to have an escort.

There is parking available and a small canteen in the museum itself.

The fire department has a station next to the museum and our training area is located next to the access road for the museum. :0:If there is enough interest, I may be able to set a demonstration of our ARFF (aircraft rescue firefighting) trucks. We have an aircraft mockup and a burn building that we can set on fire.

Information about the museum can be found at www.amcmuseum.org. Info about Dover AFB can be found at www.dover.af.mil.

If there is enough interest, any suggestions on a date? I work every other day, but considering I work there anyway, any day is okay with me!! ;D ;D

Well like I said, I am there every other day so any day is okay with me. When we get a tentative date set, I'll make some arrangements for the trucks.

Sometime in October? I'm open for suggestions....

So far, the only date I'm not available is 10/19. Also, there is a Monster Truck GTG in NJ on 10/26.

10/25? I'll be on duty :(..... wait, attend a GTG and get paid for working..... >:D >:D >:D

Sounds okay by me, just need to spread the word. What time? The museum is open from 9-4.

Also need to get a tentitive attendence list, please post here. I'll add to original post, thanks.

Definitely interested, I'll have to check my schedule at work, but for now put me down as a yes (y)

Anyone else from the burlington area coming?

10/25 sounds great! ;D

We are probably bringing my father-in-law with us who was in WW2. He's probably flown on some of the stuff the museum has on display. Man, he can tell you the stories!  ;D He's like a walking WW2 history book.  ;D

Depends on What Time I work Till 1pm

Ok as of now...

3 yes, 5 maybe

Tubby, the museum is open until 4 pm. I'm not sure what the rest of the group have planned afterwards. Come to think of it, what time would work for most? I think I might ask and see if I can get the day off. I will be there either way but I would be able to do some other stuff with the group.

As far as the demo at the burn pit is concerned, I would need to have a few more definite attendees. I could get a truck for display no problem, however using the pit area requires much more coordination. I don't see them doing it for just a couple of people. Don't get me wrong, I'll still ask, but no guarantees.

This is the kind of truck that would be on display. We have four of these and some others too.

Tubby,

We have to get your boss to let you our early, so you can make it. ;D How about you tell him you'll start early that day, work a few hours, and make up more hours during the week? Let me talk to him for you. I can convince him. >:D Of course you may not have a job the next day either. >:D  ;)

But seriously, maybe he'll let you make up the time during the week. Just a thought. ;D

Wish I could make it but University of Delaware football plays Navy that day and already have tickets. :( :(

My 2 yo son would have loved to see fire trucks. Have a great time. :B:

I would come up, but, I am already commited to the monster truck GTG in New Jersey on Sun. Depending on the times I could maybe hit this on the way up. Anyone else want to cruise from Del. to NJ?

I've thought about it (asked the wife) OK, I'm in. Afternoon is better for me. I will leave early AM hit this GTG then cruise up to NJ for the Monster Truck GTG. Bigblock, you in for a cruise VA-DE-NJ-VA, one weekend?

Speeder you better check my post in "Yes Virginia" for the answer to your question.

Mike

ttt

Just keeping it up there. I'm going to be there one way or the other. I also had a thought about the John Dickinson Mansion. It is right down the street. Just a passing thought.

Hey if anybody wants to go to any other museum in Dover here is a site with info...http://www.destatemuseums.org/Information/museums.shtml
