You have to promise me, 2 things

Not to laugh >>[out loud anyways]
and don't ask me where I got it, or where you can get it

Summer is here, and last year my AV was a two seat Jeep for 6 weeks

So if is going to be wide open,
you might as well show it off :0:

I tow many different things. and now I can actually see backing up

CHEVY RULES (y)

awesome real cool to cape looks like a totally different type of av good working with it :)

Hey Cape, Heck that ain't nothing to laugh at. Looks pretty cool.
I don't get to pull much, but it looks like it would be the icing on the cake if i did.
Seems like this would be great for around town towing, don't know about on the long trips with weather being a threat.
Great job..............

I'm thinking...put the bed covers on, you could fit children, small animals, or a spouse in and it's vented for fresh air!

>:D

(Kidding...of course)

Well, wait 'til you have a spouse and kids ... then we'll see how you feel about just kidding on this. ;)

LOL...well I had to add that little disclaimer for those that are lacking in senses of humor ;D ;) :2:

LOL Thats funny! Where did you get that? Do they have more? ;)

Hey that is pretty cool. Do you pull anything? I see trucks around here that mount a hitch in the bed and they have to have a modified tail gate like that. I'm sure there are a few people on this website that would be interested in doing just that!

Once again the avalanche shows that it is the truck of trucks! (y)

Cool... Like the look of the 5th wheel tailgate....
Much improved visibility for backup to a trailer....

Wonder, does it give you better gas mileage as the tailgate is no longer a wind catcher?

Definately different

Thanks All :)

I should have mentioned that the AV is not 5th wheel
nor could it be, safely

I had this gate left over from my crew cab dually
Cost was over around $500

I had to bring it over to my Horz/vertical bandsaw and milling machine to do some modifications

It is for hot summer days only when the truck is converted>>>> it does remove quickly and I did not change any of the factory latch assmblies so the orig gate pops back on

It would probably be the same gas milage as panels on or ?factory gate down/panels off

New saying is >>> CHANGE FOR A $5

RE: 5th wheel hitch.....

Box is too small and you're going to hit the cross bars.......
Besides, the 1500 has coil spring suspension.... Do you really want this on a 5th wheel application.... I hope not!!!!

Laugh at it?
I think it's great!

I occasionally have to tow a 24 ft Alumaweld dive boat or a 15ft Zodiac.
I always have to lower the tailgate to see the trailer when I back-up to load the boat. ?That tailgate of yours would be great if I had to do that all the time.

I had thought about painting it to match, but is already polished aluminum, in new shape
I will wait till it gets beat up alittle

I like it the way it is!

Seems pretty pratical to me if there's limited need for locking things up.

Great for towing, hauling and backing.

Nice Job
