Ok so I have found a lot of post on 02-06 Avy's about removing the console and parts you need for the dash but not many on 07 and up.  If I remove the center console on my 08 to install a jump seat do I need any dash parts up front to cover any holes that may or may not be there after you remove the console?  And what about the heat/air ducts?  I know I will lose the rear radio controls but I do not care about that.  I found one of the nicer solid top with cup holders jump seat that I want to swap it with.

Thanks for any help.

Do you have a BOSE system? If so there are a number of things you need to do. I am assuming with the RSA you do have the bose system. If you have the over head RSE system you may also lose that if you go to the "jump seat".

You will lose your subwoofer and amplifier that are mounted in the console. You need to do an amplifier bypass at the radio.

You need to be aware there are threaded rods sticking through the carpet. If the mounting system is like in the first gen the console mounts to the dash in the front and under the middle mounts of the front seats but the wire harness is clipped down to the floor on threaded rods welded to the floor pan. You need to either cut those off or put a nut on them or something. You will leave some holes in the carpet as well.

If you have the over head RSE you will likely lose that along with the RSA due to the removal of the amplifier. Not for sure though.

if it is like the first gen the harness goes to the radio and also has a portion for the lighter/aux ports.

If it is like the first gen you should be able to replace the plate that the console mounts to with a different plate that has the ports on it but you will need to replace the harness for one that is compatible. (You may be able to use the original harness and just tie up the console portion and hide it in the dash somewhere.)

I am assuming since GM likes to cut costs they still have the plate that is different between trucks with consoles and those without but otherwise you might be looking at a whole new lower dash unit.

Seems like a lot of work to me when you have a full backseat to use...

I do not think I have the Bose system.  As it does not have any Bose logos and anything.  Yes I do have a backseat but my wife and I tend to need that spot for a six kid.  We tend to have extra kids going along on trips and for the ones that are old enough to ride up front it works out well.  And I do not have to trade my Avy for a Sub. or minivan.LOL
