So my wife found out that Celine Dion will have her last performance on Dec 15 of this year and she is amping to go. I promised her I would take her when we got married and I have been putting this off but I can't no more.

So I will probably stay home and take care of the kids...a better deal in my opinion...and she and her mom will go to Vegas for 2 nights to catch the show. It is a Caesar's Palace and I really would like her to stay there for safety reasons. She would not have to go anywhere. Aybody work there or have any pull? Anybody work for an airline that can help with flights?

I appreciate any help...I figure I get to stay home for 2 days and mod the AV :D If her Mom can't go then it would force me to go.

No wife AND no mother-in law for 2 days?  I see heaven! :)

I was there just 3 weeks ago. You might want to check on Celine ticket availability before you book any trip there. She has one of the popular shows there and being her last year, tickets may be hard to get.

Safety is not much of an issue in that area, any hotel nearby would be fine. We stayed at Bellagio, across the street from Caesars.

Yeah..she has found some decent seat..she is a member of TeamCeline..the fan club and you get better seat and such..I did not know the Billagio was accross the street. I'll let her know...Caesars Palace is a little pricey.

LOL...if you don't like the rates at Caesars...your really not gonna like them at Bellagio. On the four corners..Bellagio...Caesars Palace...Flamingo...Ballys...next to Ballys is Paris Las Vegas. All well within easy walking distance...plus there are elevated walkways over the Blvd. No need to dodge cars crossing the street.  Treasure Island and Mirage next door to Caesars and on the same side of the street. Both an easy walk to Caesars.

At last check, there are only two 5 star hotels in Vegas...Bellagio and the Wynns.

BTW...Saw lots of Avalanches on the strip..none with ambers or club decals. Where was the Vegas group?

I stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel a couple of years ago, it was just off the strip and I thought it was very reasonable for a nice room.  They had a free shuttle to Caesars.

I think I used expedia to find a good rate then booked through the HRH website.

I tried to book her a Super 8 but she wasn't going for it :needhug:

They have "Super 8" ?its just in Vegas it's slang for $800.00 per night! ?

Almost forgot....Bills (fka The Barbary Coast) is the most reasonable hotel that is right on the strip. It's sandwiched between the Flamingo and Ballys. Right across the street from Caesars Palace via an elevated walkway. Bills Las Vegas

There might be someone in the group that works at a hotel and I am sure they might chime in,  you should be able to get a good rate as it is usually the slow time of the year, any travel agency should be able to book a good rate or you can find one online with a package deal, the Treasure Island would be a cheaper hotel but still close enough to Ceazar's Palace.

BTW, the locals stay off of the strip so we miss tagging there, they did not build these hotels with our money

I was wondering when the Vegas crew would chime in.. ;)

Not on the strip with our good rides.  No reason to drive amongst all the drunk tourists.

From my experience of 15 years, odds are anyone who works in a casino/hotel, unless they are some type of boss (pit boss, casino manager, not just a normal lowly supervisor), will not be able to get you a discount on anything other than a cheap nightclub type show, not Celine.  I don't think any of our regular Las Vegas members have that type of juice....but i could be wrong....and if I am why haven't they offered it to us local members?

Second, you might want to see if she can sign up for a slot club membership for whatever hotel she decides on, before she books the room.  They might, might have a discounted rate available for club members.  But, unless she shows up and starts gambling lots of money they may not offer any reduced rates from the start.  They would want to see her gamble (lose) lots of money before they offer anything free or discounted.

I don't mean to knock down your high hopes, but it may be best to book a decent room at an affordable hotel instead of looking for a discount at a fancier place.  If Cesars has a decent price stay there.  My only advice is to ask for a reservation in a higher floor room, and see if they will confirm that over the phone and by email.  Odds are, otherwise you will get a 3rd, 4th, or 5th floor room with no view and it wont be any better than that Super 8 they were joking about.

The only hook up I ever got was when NASCAR booked the Las Vegas race the same weekend I planned my wedding.  In order to get any rooms my family could afford I had to ask a friend to ask his old supervisor to ask a casino host to give us 3 rooms for casino rate, and in return I promised them the gambling would be at their 'local' casino and not on the strip.

I hope this info helps.  Good luck in finding what you are after.

Thanks Michael and everyone else...she is a TeamCeline member so she was able to get seats in the ocherstra pit pretty close for 150 each. As far as the hotel I have never been so I needed suggestions to help her out and to make sure she and the MIL are safe. Also she is going on a wed or thurs so the prices seem to be much cheaper.

C'mon, you just want the wife safe.  You want the MIL in harm's way >:D

Actually she had neck fusion surgury late last year so I was trying to book a flight with a little prop plane so she could have fun with all the turbulance >:D actually though I really great along well with my in laws..they are very dear people to me.....I guess I am one of the furtunate ones that have decent inlaws....I like her parents better than mine >:D

depending on when she comes, i could probably get her a discount at excalibur.  its nothing fancy at all but its cheap.  it would be a bit of a walk but she could always take a cab.  let me know and i will check it out.
