While I have only owned mine legally for about three weeks (long story), have any of you gotten any goodies in the mail from GM? When I took delivery of my 99 Expedition, I received a pair of folding camper-style chairs with the Ford logo and their no boundaries logo on them. Pretty nice gift considering they were the same color as my interior (I know, possible coincidence!). Plus they sent me a kit that had a CD wallet for 6 CDs (my truck had a 6-disk changer) and a bottle of touch-up paint.

Anyone getting cool stuff like this being Av owners?

Nope...

I did get some cool stuff when I bought my first year
'95 Tahoe..I kind of wondered the same thing.

Nope - got a cool thanks for buying kit in 1998 when I got my Pontiac Montana. I'm willing to bet that these programs died with budget cuts, and the introduction of big rebates, and zero percent interest.

I was hoping to get something cool - but my Avalanche is cool enough!

;D ;D ;D

We leased a 2000 Grand Am in 2000 and they sent us a CD wallet and a new owners kit with a vial of touch-up paint and a cool key chain.

I was hoping that we would be getting something kind of cool for owning the coolest truck on the planet!

XRover - you're a riot - truck payment as a gift! ;D

I got zippo from GM except another questionnaire. Can these companies have enough of the stupid questionnaires? Yes, I'm happy, now leave me alone before I'm not!!!

I did get that same CD wallet (but no touch up paint) when I bought my 99 Grand Am. Ironically the Av was almost twice the investment as the GA, but no gift for me this time!

When we bought our 98 Chev Suburban GM sent us a pair of thermos cups, a small Suburban umbrella, a Suburban flashlite and a canvas attache case to carry all the loot in. Olus the dealer gave us two extra keys and a vial of touchup paint,

For our 40,000 dollars we got a loaded Avalanche and nothing else. I had to pay $7.00 for a small bottle of touchup.

If they would charge us $100 extra and give us $20 worth of "free" loot, we'd all feel better.

I never got squat when I bought a 85 Merkor XRTi, 89 isuzu trooper II, 99 Tahoe LT, 02 Avalanche.

Be glad you got something.

but I do get a smile everytime I drive my Avalanche!

I got the 2 Season's passes to the Local Ski Area...Part of the Ski Chevy program....

Once, I had to take my 1998 GMC Jimmy in for service 3 times in the same week, and I yelled REALLY loud at the service manager, and got the attention of the owner of the dealership...the next day a GMC Cooler, Umbrella, First Aid kit, and small tool kit come FedEx.....

And the dealership still didn't get the scratch off the tailgate that they put in with their buffer...

I got two water proof duffle bags and two back packs, both with Avalanch printed on them. Yes, it came with The North Face edition and there was an extra cost for it all, but those extras are kinda nice. I use them.

I got an extra $750.00 back when we got a new certificate in the mail. Had to gripe a little but we did indeed get it. Other than that nothing. :p

zippo, nada, zilch - I think you get the message.

What happened to the good old days - I remember my Dad getting all sorts of GM/Oldsmobile goodies (including a couple of 8-track tapes!) back in the late sixties.

You are correct - I don't know why I forgot my season ski passes - that's bad on my part - and they totally ROCK!!! (I've used them to no end)

For has sent me nice stuff with each of my purchases (6 fords since '89). GM has sent me 0, nada (2 GM's since '89). Oh wait, in '95 GMC dealer gave me a free Mobile 1 oil change in my new Jimmy then closed hood on the filler cap giving me a sporty hood zit for free. Most expensive oil change given by a GM dealer.
I like free stuff, but am sure I have paid for it somehow....kind of the feeling you get if you get a check from the IRS after filing your taxes.

PS...don't get me wrong, FORD has lived up to it's name (Found On the Road Dead) with at least two of those cars....so everything does have a price.

Got the canvas attache with cup, umbrella, flashlight & firstaid kit when I bought my '97 Suburban. All I got with the '02 Av is a free oil change. Oh, and they put my new license plates on for me when they came in.
Cups would have been nice.

Betsy

Nothing here. Free oil change and the free tank of gas when I bought it. Everytime I drive my AV it's like getting a new gift. I love it! ;D ;D

The only thing I got from Chevy for buying my Av..were season tickets to the New Jersey Devils...other than that nothing... :p Just kidding... ;)

My wife made the comment last night about this exact thing...

Something about her boss getting a nice Eddie Bauer (sp?) bag in the mail from Ford to complement her new Eddie Bauer Navigator along with a thank you note... I told her well, we did get one thing for free 30 minutes of air time with the On Star and a full tank of gas upon delivery (this was our "thank you" from our dealer). Other then that-not a darn thing....

Is that what this is all about? See what we can get for free? I missed something. Gee, I wonder if I should want for a free set of tires forever? Free gas forever. Free service forever. Hmmmm...... let's see, that wouldn't raise the price of the pickup at all. It's all free !!!!!!!! Quitcherbellyachin' about the price and then asking why you didn't get a free coffee mug.

I got my truck for what I paid for it not expecting nor wanting anything for free. If you happen to get an unexpected gift, be receptive and receive the gift in the light it was intended. Don't expect gifts. That makes them non-gifts.

You knew what the sticker said when you bought your truck. Would you have changed your mind on a $35,000 purchase if you knew you would not be getting a "Free" $1.00 mug?

Think about it.

Trophyman.

I wasn't looking for anything free when I originated the post. I was mainly curious to solicit the opinions and experiences from other new owners.

I was pleasantly surprised on my Ford experience and was just curious to know if anyone had similar experiences with GM previsouly or currently. I certainly wasn't expecting anything, although a vial of touch-up paint would be nice with ANY new vehicle.

My dealer sent touch-up paint and some coupons for $$ off my first oil change. :)

Unfortunately I had just changed the oil the first time a week or two prior to the coupons getting to me.

I may try to have them honor it at my next change. We will see. :cautious:

Not at all... it seems you are missing the spirit of the original post... It is all about learning how different manufacturers deal with their customers. Nothing more then that... We drive what we drive because we want to not because we were getting a "value meal" and a special secret gift.

I like the way my wife smiles when she gets into her new truck--That is plenty for me. :D
