I'm new to the club and I love it... I stay hours on this site searching helpfull stuff to fix my beloved avy!!

I got a ? about the Audioban AW1208T FLAME Subwoofers!!! I've heard a lot of good stuff about them but I'm still deciding If I should buy them. I plan to spend $300.00 for two 12" subs.. What would you guys recomend?????

My best friend Just got two of these in 12's last weekend, they slam nice and hard and are clean. I know he is running an Audiobahn amp but, I do not know which one. He set up was not cheap though.. I think he paid $850 for everything

Hey Slick,
Welcome to the club! The subs he mentioned in the post above are awesome subs for a price that is unmatched by anything else that I know of right now. They are also selling the 15" version if you want to go bigger for fun. They are in a separate thread a page or two back.

I have the same exact subs. I love them to death. I have them running on a Rockford Fosgate 1500bd mono amplifier. My birth sheet says that I am pushing 1738x1 @ 2omhs to my subs. And man let me tell you, they barely move! They can hold 1500 RMS apiece and have a sensitivity of 91 dB's. They dont require alot of power to push, I even had a legacy 1000 watts amp on my subs and they still pounded hard. I got mine from etronics.com and you can get them from sounddomain.com for cheap too.

Only thing about these subs is that they can only be used in a ported box. No bandpass, no sealed. Plus, it will be hard to find a ported box between 1.30 and 3.15 cu.ft. I am fabricator, so I built my own box and 3 days later, bass. These subs got power, you just got to get them in the right sized box. If you have anymore questions, let me know, I had these suckers for a year and dont plan to switch form them.

Thanks guys I think i'm going to get them next paycheck ;) but I wont install them till i get the Amp.. All my audio and video setup but woofers and amp.... I'll let you guys know when I finish my audio project hopegully I get a lot of bass out of this babies >:D.. Thanks again for all your help this club is awesome!!!

Where in the world did you put them? How is your's set up?

I only paid $450 for my AW1208T 2 12's. And another $400ish for my Rockford Fosgate Power 1500bd. Now insane is how loud this setup is. That amp makes my headlights dance with the music when I turn the volume up. Considering I am underpowering these 12's( and yes they are underpower because each sub handles 1500 RMS each), these suckers but out so much bass. I am going to go to a car show soon and see how many db's I am hitting. I wonder how loud I'll be if I add another 1500 watts to the 12? ??? And if the 3-piece panels can take that much? ???

I was going to get the 2300hct for the 12's but I found a great deal on my 1500bd. Maybe when I get my new setup I can finally get them. Still leaning towards the new 3000 watt rockford fosgate amp. http://rockfordfosgate.com/products/ez2rockford/ModelInfo/ModelInfo.asp?ItemKey=10063518&CategoryDesc=Power%20Amplifiers Plus think of upgrading the aw1208t's to the awis12p immortal series. Those audiobahns hold 2000 rms with a 95 sensitivity. >:D Man I bet when those things hit, your chest caves in. I know I got to upgrade everything with this setup, batteries, alternators, capacitors, the works.

Epyon,
The new RF 30001 will be expensive as hell when dealers get them. For an absolute bargain, check out the JBL Powervalve BP1200.1. Sounddomain.com has them for 299.95 apiece right now. They're the best bargain in car audio for a sub amp right now in my opinion.

Those are a good deal. Plus they have some good stats to go with them. The old BP1200.1 has way better stats than the new JBL BPX1100.1. Look at the big difference in S/N ratio, it a 37 db difference. ??? I got to tell my car club buddies about that deal, you cant beat the power for the price. I know when those New Power series amps comes out they will be expensive but I always wait about a year to go find the amp. I try to buy them when they lower prices to sell them off and introduce a newer model. I did the same for my power 1500bd amp. When it first came out it was retailed at about a thousand, I waited almost a year and bought mine for 450 including the full warrenty :-*. I always try to get the most for my funds. Now Im going to wait for the 04 models of the audiobahn immortal series prices to go down before I try to get them. One of my best advantages is patience, shoot I waited to get my 03 Avalanche when a cousin of mine that works at the chevy dealership told me when the incentives was coming for the 03's. I must be the most clear thinking 19 yr old in the world ;)

Plus I got time, Im waiting for the 04 Avalanches' prices go down so I can get one of those ;).

This difference is due to a change in the method of stating specs and ratings. There's a post about it here, it's referred to as CEA-2006, and is used currently by about 14 auto amp makers, I believe.

The new Power 30001 would have been advertised as a 3000Wrms amp before this new standard; it has provided a level ground for ratings in order to tell the consumer the truth of the matter. Compare Rf, Kicker, JBL and so on with their CEA 2006 rating sections and you'll notice similar specs that do appear a lot different than their past numbers.

Case in point...RF head units. They are advertised as being capable of 50w x 4 channels of output, which is obviously ridiculous from a little chip amp with a 14 ga wire powering it...........but they are now rated as 10x4 by the new more truthful standard.

I forgot all about the new standard. I remember reading about it on Rockford Fosgate's web page. I was seeing alot of spec's that I would agree with on certain amps. I've heard and tested alot of amps and speakers and knew their numbers weren't true. I can speak from experience with the stuff I use and say there specs are true.

The 1208T's are rated correctly and my 1500bd is too. When I got my amp, one of the first things I did was test how many watts I got our of it. I got a birth sheet that said the amp puts out 1738 watts @ 2 ohms and I tested and got around that same number, cant remember exactly but it was close. I knew if I didn't get what I expected and most importantly paid for, I was going to take it back in a heart beat. As for the subs, I tested ONE of them on my buddies' audiobahn A2200HCT and it was beautiful, all that bass from that one sub at RMS beat my 2 that I got on my 1500bd. Im not going to call any companies names out but some of these people be lying their a$$ off when it comes to rating their products. I dont know, maybe I got lucky with my current setup but am glad I got what researched and paid for
