Have an '03 with the dual zone automatic climate control. Question is, every time i enter the veichle, it default to "fresh air' even though i had it on recirculate when i left.

Any way to keep it on recirculate?

try putting the settings on you want, then hit the driver button to save settings. This should have it on next time you put the key in.

I believe the truck will only stay on recirc for so long anyway. Without fresh air brought into the cab, things may get dangerous.

Or if not dangerous, at least very stuffy and stale. :p

I tried storing the settings, doesn't work.

My wife and kids suffer from allergies, so this time of year with all the pollen, I like to keep it on recirc for them

I've noticed the quirks that MD has pointed out. Also I notice these perculiar things too with my auto climate control.

1. When you turn the system on with the Auto button, it defaults to floor mode. This is a pain as I have to cycle through the different modes to get air coming out the front vents.

2. I can't seem to turn on the a/c in manual. When in manual mode, pressing the snowflake button only seems to show the a/c off symbol (snowflake with line through it).

Any one else seem to notice these things. Any one talked to their dealer/garage about it? Need a "Mr Goodwrench" response.

1. Mine chooses the floor mode if it's intending to heat. It chooses the dash vents if it's intending to cool. This seems appropriate to me. If your's is choosing the floor mode to cool, then something is wrong in it.
2. In manual mode, if the temperature set requires cooling, then the A/C will come on. The button only allows you to tell it NOT to use the A/C under any circumstances.
Are you perhaps assuming that manual mode means you will decide whether it will heat or cool? It still works to achieve the set temperature, even in manual mode. Your only control over that would be to set a higher or lower temperature until it's doing what you want....
HTH.

Thank HTH. When they say AUTOMATIC climate control, they really mean it. I'll try playing with the temp to see what happens.

I have tried to save the settings with the recirc button on; it does not work (at least not on mine).

Another thing I have noticed is that when I get in the truck after it has sat in the sun, I only get hot air unless the truck is moving. Any ideas what is going on?

:D HTH is a common shorthand for Hope This Helps :D
I'm glad it did.
We've had some thread discussions around the auto climate control buttons before. It seems the common assumption is that the buttons should work like they do on a manual system, and it's becoming clear that the designer of this wasn't thinking like that at all. The way the buttons seem to work makes more sense if you assume the designer was thinking people should just set their desired temp and leave it to the computer! Then he/she was told to provide the ability for the owner to defeat certain automatic functions, and did exactly what he/she was told to do, all the while muttering foul comments about 'stupid users want to ruin my beautiful programming'! ;)
Hope This Helps :D

LOL! Have you been listening in during one of my programming design reviews? Sounds like something I would say. >:D
