Does anyone know if it possible to do the following?
Use the 'secondary' battery location (front driver side) as a spot to mount and charge a battery from the charging system while driving normally?

Thinking it might be a way to charge a boat battery when driving into town, etc on longer trips where the transient slips don't supply shore power to charge batteries when docked and I don't have a more convenient way to ensure my batteries are topped off between uses.

The power management system in the '07 could handle this, right?

Provided it is installed properly having proper cutoffs etc..  Many have been installed on the older models so I cant imagine the newer ones couldnt do it as well..

The charging system is designed more for starter batteries. If the boat battery is a deep-discharge type, for one, yes keep the connection separate from the truck's starter battery and the other, limit the charge current to the .1c rate (10 hour). UNLESS it's an AGM type. In that case, it can take what you can give it (within reason..). That's a bit general.

bad idea! no alternator is designed to charge a battery that's discharged to say 80%,normal starting only discharges battery 2 or 3 %,when alternators are forced to recharge higher percentages they don't live long!!! if you've ever bought a replacement alt. at a parts store, they always tell you to charge the battery first!!!
